My Philosophy on Education

Educators have their own unique philosophies on what their beliefs are on education and

how they want to teach in their classroom. There are a lot of different philosophies, but every

educator’s main goal should be for their students to prosper. My philosophy on education is to

provide structure and procedures, maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment, and by

engaging in professional development that I will use to effectively improve student success in the

classroom.

Structure in the classroom is especially important for any educator because structure

allows you to have an organized system within the class. I will have structure in my classroom

by setting clear expectations for all my students by having a routine and procedures in place and

by following the standards. Every student learns differently, and those needs must be addressed.

It will be my mission to make sure every student is thriving in my classroom by having student-

centered activities such as visuals, hands on manipulatives, and rotating centers such as

versatiles, snap cubes, white boards, picture aids, charts, and graphs. Knowledge is skills

acquired by a person through education and it is important because it helps teachers and students

with growth and development. I want all my students to be successful in their future and want

them to master basic reading, writing, math, and oral skills because these skills will help them be

prepared for future occupations.

The students view of a classroom is so important to how they learn and succeed. Respect

and trust are earned. I will earn their respect and trust by showing up every day, showing them, I

am somebody they can always rely on and I will always be there for them. They will know the

rules we have in place with our procedures that will include to always be kind to one another. By

doing some of these things will also make my students feel safe. Lastly, I want my students to

have fun while they are learning. I will incorporate fun with hands on science experiments that

include things like making a balloon rocket or an erupting volcano, have students working

together, field trips and brain breaks. By incorporating these few steps into my classroom, my

mission is for students to be excited about coming to school and learning new things.

Educators constantly need to be learning and thinking about different ways to teach

children to make it work for their class. Personal development and lifelong learning for teachers

is crucial for teachers to grow and adapt to the needs of their class to help students grow and

succeed. To be an effective teacher you must have the ability to adapt and tailor instruction to

meet the needs of the students. Teaching and learning constantly changes and can change when it

comes to each class and each student, so it is vital that as an educator you are constantly willing

to learn and grow. The more knowledge that an educator has than it will help that educator with

more strategies to meet the needs of different students.

One of my goals as an aspiring future educator is maintaining a safe and respectful

learning environment so that every child will love coming to my class and feel comfortable

learning in a positive atmosphere. Structure in my classroom is important for me because it will

keep it orderly and organized. Another goal is engaging in professional development that I will

use to effectively improve student success in the classroom. Personal development is essential

for me to always be a better teacher because I believe knowledge is power and there is always

room to grow as a person.
