Teaching Philosophy
A teacher is someone who assists others in their academic, social and personal
development by providing them with the tools needed to grow as an independent learner. As a
teacher, it is important to understand that every student learns information in a different way and
at a different pace. In the classroom, I strive to discover which method of learning works best for
each student and use this to build my lesson plans in a way that will allow the information to
reach every student. This involves using differentiation to implement a variety of platforms to
display the information to my students. I illustrate to my students the importance of good study
habits, dedication to learning, and above all else; trying your best at everything you do. It is very
important to me that I provide each student with the opportunity to reach their full potential and I
recognize that this will look different for each student. As a teacher I have the responsibility to
ensure that my assessment and evaluation methods are just and fair. In accordance with Growing
Success, I outline the expectations clearly to students and transparently display the methods I
will use for marking each assessment and evaluation that I assign.
With technology becoming an increasingly important tool in our everyday lives I feel it is
important to introduce students to the ways in which they can use technology to further their
learning and understanding. I strive to demonstrate to students the safe practices which they
should follow when using technology in the classroom. I implement technologies that modify
and redefine lessons and assignments, as outlined by the SAMR model.
