THE EARLIER THE CONSUMPTION, THE BEST!
Early consumption helps to develop enzymatic secretion and to enhance digestive
system (intestinal villosity).
At weaning, the higher the piglet weight, the best for :
- Homogeneity at weaning and at entering the fattening phase
- Less sensitive to sanitary disease in post weaning phase
- Higher growth potential

Do not forget the factors influencing feed consumption in

Prestarter phase :
Luminosity: 24 hours/ 24 during the first 3 days.
Density: Less than 25 porcelets / box .
Distribution: Split the feedings : 3/days minimum to keep fresh feed.
CITRAFEED SOLUTIONS
FOR YOUR PIGLETS

TARGET 1 : OPTIMUM CONSUMPTION

Aromatic factors to stimulate early consumption
Milk products : Nice smell and digestible
Specific raw materials with appropriate Quality Control
Industrial know how for soft pellets

TARGET 2 : OPTIMUM GROWTH

 High energy : >2650 kcal
 High digestibility : Cooked and extruded cereals for good
digestion
 Enzyms (glucanases, xylanases, amylases…) :
Improve cereals digestion and allow higher energy
Very rich in Lysine, Methionine, Threonine and Tryptophane :
Lysin >1.40% Methionin : 0.5% Threonin : 0.85%
Tryptophane : serotonin promotor to stimulate appetite
CITRA FEED SOLUTIONS
FOR YOUR PIGLETS
TARGET 3 : DIGESTIVE SECURITY AND DIARRHEA PREVENTION
 Balanced protein level
 Antibiotic supplementation
 Acidifiers and yeasts : Development of beneficial microflora in
digestive tube after weaning

TARGET 4 : IMMUNE SYSTEM STIMULATION

 High level of vitamins : including high dosage of vitamin E which
have anti-oxidant properties

TARGET 5 : AVOID CANNIBALISM

Balanced levels of salt and sodium bicarbonate

TARGET 6 : TRANSPORT AND STORAGE IN GOOD CONDITIONS

Mold inhibitor and mycotoxins binder
CB1 : FEEDING PROGRAM
ADOPT THE 14 RULE
The 14 rule is the total quantity of feed to distribute taking into account
weight at weaning.
Feed quantity to distribute = 14 - Weight at weaning

Example for a weaning weight : 7,5 kg

Quantity of feed to distribute = 14 - 7,5 = 6,5 kg

The 14 rule could be applied to all conditions.

SOW ’S FEEDING PROGRAM - ADVICES
D0 = date of the mating or insemination

D-7 to D0 : Keep the milking sow feed

After the weaning (D-7), lead a flushing period with a milking sow feed (2.8 to 3 kg / day) until the insemination time

After the insemination, change to gestation sow feed

D0 to D4: respect a feeding restriction during 4 days (1.6 kg to 2 kg/d), to help the embryo to survive

D4 to D30:
Distribution during one month of a higher quantity of gestating feed (+300 à +500 g/d compared to the maintenance need) in
order to rebuilt quickly the body fat reserves. Adapt the quantities relating to the weight losses during the lactation period.
D30 target : Body note = 3

D30 to D80:
To cover only the maintenance requirements, relating to the sow weight . Maintain the same quantity of feed distributed during
all this period (2 to 2.2 kg/d)

D80 to D113:
Necessity to cover the supplementary requirements of the embryo growth.
Also, increase the feed distribution ( about +100 g/ week until the farrowing to reach 2.7 to 3 kg/d in normal situation). The
increase of the quantity of feed distributed during the last month of gestation improves the piglet weight at the birth.
To finish, it is very important to keep the gestating feed until the second day after farrowing, in order to maintain a fiberous
feed until the farrowing, and reduce the constipation problems.
