• Leverage
1 STEP
Purpose: Develop proper 1st step with hands in holster action

• Drill

• Have player start with 1st step already taken. On command (step), player will
take 2nd step & two hand punch under chin.
• Follow hands with face. This will form the triangle surface player wants to
make contact on defender.
• *Good drill to do on a sled so player can time up getting 2nd foot on the
ground just before punch hits defender.
• Player needs to be 1 yard away from sled. This technique allows player to
have both feet on the ground on contact.
• Do drill with RIGHT & LEFT FOOT.
• Coaching Points

• Punch hands just under chin.
• Keep chest over knees.

• Chest is over knees. Back is flat (slight arch in lower back).
• Chin is up.
• Knees are pumping.
• Reinforce all techniques.
• Player should yell, AH!, every time foot hits ground (power).

• Drill
• Start in a FIT position. Coaches Commands:
• FEET - Power walk a defender from a perfect fit position.
