1 Product Overview
1.1 Introduction
With
ith the developing of mobile communication, high quality networks have to be built up
to meet growing requirements. Hot
ot spot, indoor and rural area coverage should be taken
into consideration. At the same time, telecom operators are facing challenges in
equipment room, engineering and noise pollution.
ZXSDR BS8908 (hereafter referred to “BS8908”) Mini BTS is hence designed to meet
these requirements.
Integrated design and MCPA make it small volume, high density, high capacity and low
power consumption.
consumption Itt can be used for both indoor and outdoor applications with IP65
protection. The unit can be mounted on walls, poles or masts.
1.2 Benefits
Compact Design,
esign, Light Weight, Easy Installation
BS8908 is only less than 15 kg, easy to transport and install. It can be mounted on
the pole, against the wall, on the tower top, etc. No
o dedicated equipment space is
required,
ed, easy for site acquisition, fast network deployment.
Easy
asy Expansion and High Coverage
Green BTS
BS8908 supports Doherty, DPD and MCPA technologies in power amplifier module
which provides high PA efficiency. High efficiency MCPA, natural cooling and high
density design reduce the power consumption.. Zero noise pollution makes it easy
for indoor installation and site acquisition.
Abis interface is based on FE/GE or IP over E1. It provides E1/T1 and FE/GE
interfaces for Abis connection and supports various transmissions networking such
as SDH, IP,, microwaves and satellite transmission.
2 Product Architecture
Byy integrated design, BS8908 single unit integrates control and clock module, baseband
processing, radio unit, power management and so on. Both AC (220
220 V/110 V) and DC
(-48 V) power supply are supported.
BS8908 single
ingle unit supports up to 6 TRXs by adopting MCPA technology. BS8908 is
shown in the following figure.
figure
BS8908 can also be equipped with embedded antenna packed in sun shield.
shield With
combination of BTS and antenna, site wiring, installation and commissioning procedure
is simplified. BS8908 with embedded antenna and sun shield is shown in Figure 2-2.

2.4 Functionality
BS8908
8 accomplishes the following basic functions with Um, Abis and O&M interfaces.
With Abis interface, BS8908 connects with BSC and accomplishes the following
functions, including cell management, reporting BTS measurement information,
broadcasting
g system Information, implementing access control from BSC, mobility
management, radio resource management and controlling and FP processing
management.
Supports GSM Phase I/GSM Phase II/GSM Phase II plus standards and 3GPP
standards till R10.
Supports CS1-CS4
CS1 of GPRS, MCS1-MCS9
MCS9 of EDGE. Supporting dynamically
changing channel coding according to monitoring and measurement results.
The receiving
eceiving part adopts Viterbi algorithm for coding. Channel decoding capability
and system receiving sensitivity is improved.
Supports DTX sending and decreasing transmitting power, lowering the total
interference in the air.
Supports
pports TA (Time Advance) calculation.
Supports BSS local switch; the voice data frame will switch in BSS and will not go to
core network.
Supports dynamic power sharing; output power of MCPA can be shared by multi
carriers in multi-carrier
multi BTS.
Supports intelligent
telligent cell shutdown to shut down some cells of the base station in
case of the traffic is very low.
