Synopsis This course is to give knowledge and understanding of foundation design. It includes bearing
capacity of soils and settlement of shallow foundations, foundations on difficult soils, ground
improvement techniques, raft or mat foundations, pile foundations, drilled piers, sheet pile walls,
cofferdam, caissons, strutted excavations, underpinning of foundations, and use of modern
computational tools.
