Reflection Paper on Career Path

Introduction

To start with, Russell R. Rogers (2001) mentioned, “Despite the widespread

adoption of reflective practices across many fields of study, a critical analysis of the

concept of reflection and its application within higher education has been lacking.”

As mentioned above, reflection is an essential tool for students to maintain the

creativity, and to review the knowledge they learned after a period of time. Therefore,

reflection is a crucial ability for all students in academic learning, especially for

higher education recipients like university students

Description

During the class in GE 1000, Professor Xiang managed us to figure out the career

path of our own. Consequently, after a short discussion among my team and the self-

evaluation template, I was considered to start my career as an entrepreneur or lawyer.

Feelings

The process of team discussion was active and influential. Therefore, the result

of my self-evaluation in the M.B.T.I Scoring Sheet was precise. Honestly, I was quite

delighted after seeing the result because being an entrepreneur is one of my priority

choices.

Evaluation

Undeniable, the future career path evaluation experience was meaningful.

Moreover, it corroborates my determination to devote myself to the right career that I

always dreamed about. Meanwhile, it gave me a passion for studying and preparing

for what truly matches my future career. However, as a freshman at Wenzhou Kean

University, this process also warned me how competitive the future will be, as

thousands of students in my same age who struggle to achieve the goal as I am.

Analysis

Now I am genuinely aware of my personalities, that I am a extroverted, intuitive,

thinking, and perceiving student. With this in mind, I should appraise a suitable way

for me to learn, more importantly, to cultivate and maintain these personal characters

for my future career. The goal has been set, and whether I can success or not will

depend on my effort.

Conclusion

Now I am in WKU, a different environment to learn, adaptations and changes

should be treated seriously and wisely. Only knowing the goal made it impossible to

achieve, detailed plans should be formulated in my four-year university life. Therefor,

after setting the future career path, I should start to consider the meticulous ways to

achieve the goal.

Action Plan

Matt Cutts (2011) gave the idea of “try something new for 30 days”, and that is

what I am going to do. For instance, try to focus on English learning for at least 2

hours a day because English is the common language using in most international

circumstances. Moreover, I will start to read books and watch video of famous

speech, as to develop the leadership temperament. On the whole, I firmly believe that

I can become a real entrepreneur ten years later.
