III. LEARNING ACTIVITIES

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY

 PRILIMINARY ACTIVITIES

“Good morning class!” “Good morning Ma’am!”

“Let us all stand for the prayer… (Students will follow)

In the name of the father… Amen!”

“Please be seated.” “Thank you Ma’am!”

“How’s your day class?” “We’re great!”

“Good to know that! Is everybody “Yes Ma’am!”

present today?”

“Class do you have assignment?” “Yes Ma’am!”

“Okay, pass your assignment in (Students will follow)

front.”

"Now let settle our agreement" "Yes ma'am"

“Are you ready first activity?” “We’re ready Ma’am!”

“Now, I want you to proceed to (Students will proceed to their respective

your group according to the colour groups)
of your name tag.”
MOTIVATION

FOOD CHAIN

MECHANICS: The teacher will say a

name of a food. The last letter of the word (Students will participate)
will be the first letter of the student’s
response.

RULES:
 In three seconds, the group should
say their answer. If the group
cannot respond, automatically the
next group will connect the word.
 The group that got much correct
answer will give the highest point.

“Did you enjoy?”

"Yes Ma’am!”
“Do you want another activity?”
“Yes Ma’am!”
“But before we proceed to our next
activity, let us first read our (The students will read the objectives)
objectives.”

ACTIVITY PROPER
“WHERE DO I BELONG?

INSTRUCTION: put the picture where it (Students will listen)

belongs from the given category.

RULES: (Students will participate)

 In 3 minutes, each group must tack
their charts on the board.
 The first group to finish will earn
additional points aside from the
correct answer.”

ANALYSIS

“Class did you enjoy the activity?” “Yes Ma’am!”

“Based on the activity, what do you “ it’s about the food that we use to ate
think is all about?” everyday”

“What do you feel or notice after “ I feel energetic"

eating these foods?" “ it will keeps our skin and hair healthy”

" very good, we will check your activity

after the discussion”

“These four categories are related to our

new topic which is biomolecules.”

“Do you have any idea about "biomolecules is an organic compound”

Biomolecules? Anyone?”

 ABSTRACTION
BIOMOLECULES- are the most essential
organic molecules, which are involved in
the maintenance and metabolic process
of living things.it containing carbon,
hydrogen, nitrogen, and oxygen.

FOUR MAJOR CLASSIFICATION OF

BIOMOLECULES:

1.CARBOHYDRATES
 Are macronutrients and is one of
the tree main ways by which our
body obtains its energy.
 It comprise of carbon, hydrogen,
and oxygen at their chemical
levels.

TYPES OF CARBOHYDRATES
1. Simple carbohydrates – have one or
two sugar molecules. It digested and
converted quickly resulting in a rise in the
blood sugar levels.

Monosaccharide
 Glucose-found in any food that has
higher sugar.
 Fructose- found in fruits
 Galactose- is found in all direct
products
Disaccharides
 Lactose- found in milk
 Maltose- present in cereal, beer,
potatoes, processed cheese, and
pasta
 Sucrose- is naturally obtained from
sugar and honey containing small
amount of vitamins and minerals.

2. Complex carbohydrates- have two or

more sugar molecules. Molecules are
digested and converted slowly compared
to simple carb.

Polysaccharides
 Starch- is the chief storage form of
carbohydrates in plants and the
most important source of
carbohydrates in human nutrition.
 Glycogen- is called animal starch.
It is a readily
Available energy stored in
liver and muscles and the
one that is easily
metabolised.
 Cellulose- is the basic components
of plants. It provides tensile
strength of the cell wall.

2.LIPIDS
 Are fatty acids which insoluble in
water but soluble in organic
solvent.
 It contains Carbon, Hydrogen, and
Oxygen
TYPES OF LIPIDS:
 FATS- are solid at room
temperature and contain saturated
fatty acids found in animal fats.
 OIL- is liquid at room temperature
and contains unsaturated fatty
acids and found in plants.
 ESTEROIDS- chemical messenger
in our body are known as
hormones which are organic
compounds synthesized in glands
and delivered by the blood stream
to certain tissues in order to
stimulate or inhabit the desired
process. The most important
steroid is cholesterol. Cholesterol
is a waxy like substance found only
in animal source food.

3.PROTIENS
 They are the most common
molecules found in human body
and it made up of carbon,
hydrogen, nitrogen, and sulphur.
 It has 20 amino acids found in
human protein, only 11 can be
synthesized by the body and 9
have to be supplied by the food we
eat.
ESSENTIAL ACIDS
valine, isoleucine, leunine, lysine,
methionine, phenylalanine, threonine,
tryptophan, and histidine.

CONDITIONAL ACID
Arginine, glutamine, tyrosine, cysteine,
glycine, proline, serine, ornithine

NONESSENTIAL
Alanine, asparagine, aspartate

SOURCE OF PROTIEN:
 Egg, meat, beans, fish

4. NUCLIEC ACID
 Molecules that code for hereditary
traits by controlling the production
of protein.

TWO KIND OF NUCLIEC ACID:

1. DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) - It
contains the genetic instruction
used in development functioning of
all organisms.
 Pairing of bases:
Adenine – Thymine
Guanine - Cytosine

2. RNA (Ribonucleic Acid) - it is

responsible for the template in the
synthesis of proteins which in turn
control the operation and functions " we need to study it so that we
of the cell. understand the physiological function
 Pairing bases: that regulates the proper growth and
Adenine- uracil development of our body"
Guanine- cytosine
" it is building component of life "
Q1.why we need to study
biomolecules?

Q2. What is the important of

biomolecules?

"And now let us check your activity

earlier"

3. APPLICATION
INSTRUCTION:
4. Group one you make a concept
map about Carbohydrates.
5. Group two you make a concept
map about Lipids.
6. Group two you make a concept
map about Proteins.
7. Group two you make a concept
map about Nucleic Acid.
8. Group five you make a Venn
diagram of carbohydrates and
lipids.
9. Group five you make a Venn
diagram of proteins and nucleic
acid.
10.Select a representative to present “ yes ma’am”
your group output.

(doing the activity)

Rule: the first group to post their output
will earn additional points aside from the
point of every correct answer.

“Is it clear?”

“now I give you three minutes to do the

activity”
