III. LEARNING ACTIVITIES
PRILIMINARY ACTIVITIES
FOOD CHAIN
RULES:
In three seconds, the group should
say their answer. If the group
cannot respond, automatically the
next group will connect the word.
The group that got much correct
answer will give the highest point.
ACTIVITY PROPER
“WHERE DO I BELONG?
ANALYSIS
“Based on the activity, what do you “ it’s about the food that we use to ate
think is all about?” everyday”
ABSTRACTION
BIOMOLECULES- are the most essential
organic molecules, which are involved in
the maintenance and metabolic process
of living things.it containing carbon,
hydrogen, nitrogen, and oxygen.
1.CARBOHYDRATES
Are macronutrients and is one of
the tree main ways by which our
body obtains its energy.
It comprise of carbon, hydrogen,
and oxygen at their chemical
levels.
TYPES OF CARBOHYDRATES
1. Simple carbohydrates – have one or
two sugar molecules. It digested and
converted quickly resulting in a rise in the
blood sugar levels.
Monosaccharide
Glucose-found in any food that has
higher sugar.
Fructose- found in fruits
Galactose- is found in all direct
products
Disaccharides
Lactose- found in milk
Maltose- present in cereal, beer,
potatoes, processed cheese, and
pasta
Sucrose- is naturally obtained from
sugar and honey containing small
amount of vitamins and minerals.
Polysaccharides
Starch- is the chief storage form of
carbohydrates in plants and the
most important source of
carbohydrates in human nutrition.
Glycogen- is called animal starch.
It is a readily
Available energy stored in
liver and muscles and the
one that is easily
metabolised.
Cellulose- is the basic components
of plants. It provides tensile
strength of the cell wall.
2.LIPIDS
Are fatty acids which insoluble in
water but soluble in organic
solvent.
It contains Carbon, Hydrogen, and
Oxygen
TYPES OF LIPIDS:
FATS- are solid at room
temperature and contain saturated
fatty acids found in animal fats.
OIL- is liquid at room temperature
and contains unsaturated fatty
acids and found in plants.
ESTEROIDS- chemical messenger
in our body are known as
hormones which are organic
compounds synthesized in glands
and delivered by the blood stream
to certain tissues in order to
stimulate or inhabit the desired
process. The most important
steroid is cholesterol. Cholesterol
is a waxy like substance found only
in animal source food.
3.PROTIENS
They are the most common
molecules found in human body
and it made up of carbon,
hydrogen, nitrogen, and sulphur.
It has 20 amino acids found in
human protein, only 11 can be
synthesized by the body and 9
have to be supplied by the food we
eat.
ESSENTIAL ACIDS
valine, isoleucine, leunine, lysine,
methionine, phenylalanine, threonine,
tryptophan, and histidine.
CONDITIONAL ACID
Arginine, glutamine, tyrosine, cysteine,
glycine, proline, serine, ornithine
NONESSENTIAL
Alanine, asparagine, aspartate
SOURCE OF PROTIEN:
Egg, meat, beans, fish
4. NUCLIEC ACID
Molecules that code for hereditary
traits by controlling the production
of protein.
3. APPLICATION
INSTRUCTION:
4. Group one you make a concept
map about Carbohydrates.
5. Group two you make a concept
map about Lipids.
6. Group two you make a concept
map about Proteins.
7. Group two you make a concept
map about Nucleic Acid.
8. Group five you make a Venn
diagram of carbohydrates and
lipids.
9. Group five you make a Venn
diagram of proteins and nucleic
acid.
10.Select a representative to present “ yes ma’am”
your group output.
“Is it clear?”
EVALUATION
“yes ma’am”
