Success Interview Project - Playlist
Success can be defined in many ways: success in careers, business, in family life, in the
arts, in helping others, in spiritual domains. Interviewing successful people can help us all to find
way to achieve the success we want. You may interview a successful person or do research on
the Internet about a successful person. Follow these steps. Additionally, you must use one of the
technology websites provided below -or similar technology- to create and present your project.
Step 1: Work with a partner. Before conducting the interview, decide on the person you want
to interview and the reasons why you believe interviewing this person will be helpful. Also
decide on the type of project you want to create: a video preview, a podcast, or a digital comic
book.
1. Write down the name of a successful person it would be possible for you to interview
(or research).
2. Write at least three reasons why you believe understanding this person’s success will
help you strive to realize your dream.
3. Create questions that you want to ask this person. Brainstorm with your partner as you
formulate at least five questions in preparation for your interview.
4. Contact the person you want to interview and set an appointment. Make sure he or she
is willing to be recorded on video or audio if you choose the video or podcast project
option.
Step 2: When you meet with the person you have chosen to interview, do the following.
1. Explain to the person why you chose to interview him or her.
2. Take notes as you listen to the person’s response to your question.
Step 3: After you have conducted the interview or done research on the internet, work with
your partner to write a summary of your findings. Try to use the “language of success” learned
in the unit as you discuss the person’s insights about success.
1. Examine your notes from the interview.
2. Write a summary of the interview. What have you learned? What can be applied to your
own career path?
3. Prepare your project. See details below.
Step 4: On the due date, bring your project to class and show us your final product.
In class, we will share our presentations.
Step 5: After presentations:
1. Write a self-critique about your project of 250-350 words.
After giving a speech in class, students will prepare and submit a self critique
of the Informative/Historic Speech given. The critique may include preparation
insight and/or hindsight, presentation strengths and weaknesses, perception
of audience reactions, use of visual aids in the speech, delivery strengths
and/or weaknesses, evidence included, goals for the next speech, etc. The
total content must be 250 – 350 words.
2. Write a peer-critique of a classmate’s project 250-350 words.
Each student must critique the interview project a classmate presented. This
critique will be shared only with the instructor and not given to the chosen
classmate. Included in the critique may be presentation strengths and
weaknesses, content impact, use of visual aids, delivery strengths and/or
weaknesses, evidence included, etc. Total content must be 250 – 350 words.
Technology Playlist:
For this assignment, please choose one of the following technology options through which you
will present your findings.
To complete this project, you will video record the interview. Use Animoto to create an
inspirational video about success. This video will be 3-5 minutes in length. You should include
music, titles, and effects that add to the inspirational quality of your video presentation. See the
link below for a quick tutorial on getting started with this video editing tool.

or podcast program. You will have to record yourself and your selected person speaking.
Soundtrap can help you edit out any mistakes or delays. You can also add in music and special
sound effects with this site if desired.

Stroyboard That: Digital Comic Book Project
For this project, you will first Interview your subject. You can record them if they
approve or you can just take notes on what they say. After you interview this person, create a
storyboard to illustrate scenes from this person’s life that display how the person you’ve
selected achieves success. You might create some panels that detail their daily routine as well
as monumental moments from their journey to the success they have now attained.

*NOTE: If you choose to research someone whom you cannot interview in person, you can use
some of the technology options to pretend like you interviewed them. We’ll know this is a
creative adaptation for learning, so you can take some liberties. However, your information
should be accurate and you should use APA citation to document the sources from which you
retrieved your information.
