CUT TO
OUR TITLE ON SCREEN
‘THE MAD BUTCHER OF KINGSBURY RUN’
NESS
(in a stern tone)(raising the newspaper slightly)
I figured this is what you called me in for
CAPTAIN
Well , this is not a particularly common case now is it.
Please take a seat.
Ness sits down next to PETER MERYLO, a young black man in his
late teens/early 20s, with a slight nervous look to him. He
wears a brown jumper and a matching suede blazer, he has a
short black afro and roughly and slightly taller than Ness.
PETER
(stand ups with eagerness)
Mr Ness it is such an honour to be working with you.
NESS
(with a slight smile on his face)
Why thank you detective, but what do you mean work together ?
CAPTAIN
I forgot to mention detective Merylo will be working with you
on the case… well for you.
NESS
(with a slightly aggressive look)
Right an apprentice of sorts
JOHNSON
(in an aggressive tone)
Are we done?!
JOHNSON
Right, we’ve had 9 murders so far,4 heads never recovered,
only 2 victims identified, Edward Andrassy and Florence
Genevieve. All murders have been-
NESS
(cutting in)
The news have only reported 8 so far?
JOHNSON
As of 20 minutes ago, it's nine , now please let me finish.
JOHNSON
They’ve all been butchered like animals, some even being
emasculated, the only things these people have in common is
being either vagrants or sex workers.
Johnson slides over a file to Ness containing several crime
scene photos. All black and white photos of decapitated heads
and mangled corpses, Ness goes through each of them till one
catches his eye. He brings one photo in particular. A singular
head, eyes closed, slightly decayed browning skin and short,
brown, fuzzy hair.
NESS
He’s confident.
CAPTAIN
What do you mean?
NESS
It’s done in one stroke, his first victims took a couple, but
he is improving,and gaining confidence.
DETECTIVE MERYLO
How is he able to seamlessly decapitate people?
NESS
He either drugs them before death, or has extensive knowledge
on human anatomy. Either way it’s safe to say this mystery man
could be a medical professional.
CAPTAIN
Interesting…
NESS
Mind if we have a look at the crime scene?
CAPTAIN
I'll have Jill at reception give you the address.
NESS
Thanks very much
NESS
You coming?
DETECTIVE MERYLO
(stumbling around trying to collect the crime scene photos)
Uhh… just one moment sir
Detective Merylo swiftly jogs out the room, with Ness
following him out the room, shutting the door on his way out.
FADE TO:
Car door being shut. DON RAZNER walks with a brief case at
hand. Dons in his mid 20s, roughly 5’11, curly brown hair and
glasses. He wears a long black fur jacket, smart grey trousers
and black dress shoes.
CUT TO:
Don walks into a clinic waiting room. Very open room, with 2
brand new looking leather chairs accompanied by a small oak
coffee table, accompanied by a clear vase holding a singular
orchid with a newspaper titled ‘THE MAD BUTCHER STRIKES
AGAIN!’. The waiting room painted blindingly white, with
certificates lightly scattered along the walls, and a glass
panel separating the receptionist from the rest of the room.
Don walks over to the table and picks up the newspaper
RECEPTIONIST
It’s awful isn't it
Blonde hair tied back, dressed in a navy blue jumper with a
pen behind her ear.
DON
(composing himself)
Yeah it is, cant believe hes already on victim number 8
RECEPTIONIST
You think they’ll catch him ?
DON
(shaking his head)
Absolutely not. He’s probably already killed again.
RECEPTIONIST
(in a timid)
You think
DON
(in a confident tone)
Most definitely, you see , he will never be caught, the way
the police are running around like headless chickens, they
won’t be able to get him.
RECEPTIONIST
My cousin Jill told me they've gotten THE Elliot Ness on the
case.
DON
(with a slight grin on his face)
Well this should be interesting.
