Lumos Company sees the needs of people looking for a solution to the problem of
acquiring expensive laptop with a backlit keyboard. Lumos Company reached an idea to
constitute product by increasing the functionality of a silicone cover to address the issue
of not having a light support on their keyboard when typing. Lumos introduces the backlit
keyboard cover that comprises a built in LED light and USB cord that is suitable for MAC
and Windows laptop especially Acer (because Acer has the biggest market share of 26%
within the Philippines). Lumos company targets to help customers who wants to
economize their money. It is a great advantage for consumers as this product gives more
than its value. Lumos is a keyboard cover that does not only protect the keyboard from
dust and water through its feature of being a water resistant. As stated by Mogale
(2017), with the modern technology that we have today there is a lot of innovation that
made the lives of people easier and more convenient. As stated by Mogale (2017), with

feature of increasing its functionality that provides convenience through its LED feature
and helps consumers to continue their work without difficulty.

Product Concept

Lumos is a local brand in the Philippines that offers unique and innovative
electronic products such as the Lumos keyboard. According to (Klein, 2016) by far most
of the people hope to have their life to some degree less requesting and demanding yet
are worried about the expense and the proficiency of the product or service being
advertised. Businessmen, professionals and students choose to bring as minimal as they
could anyway viable such that what they brought is something extremely helpful
throughout the day. Lumos Company came up with the idea of increasing the
functionality of keyboard cover through adding LED light strip that will help the customers
in terms of typing.

To ensure the quality of the product, Lumos Keyboard will use Detect
Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA). According to Montgomery (2016),
DFMEA is a methodical gathering of exercises used to decide how to perceive
and assess potential frameworks, items or procedure failures.

The company decided to use a slim transparent cylinder case that fits
perfectly inside ones’ bag. Lumos logo is attached at the middle part of the cylinder.
This packaging aims to establish a minimal yet sophisticated impression of consumers
towards the brand.
Safety Measures

At Lumos, the company believes that the most important asset in the company is
its people who contribute their effort and time to for the success of the business. In this
way, Lumos dedicate all the important precautions to protect the employees, contractors
and other people involved with the company along the value chain, including suppliers,
customers and the public.
The obligations and duties of the managers in different department as well as the staff
with its corresponding job structure, administered in the Occupational Safety and Health
Standard as amended by Department of Labor and Employment, are of fundamental
significance. The following are the absolute most basic Safety Rules; each employee
should know them and stick to them. In any case that a new safety rules and regulations
arises, the managers will then inform their team right away.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT FORSAFETY

Eyes and Face Protection


• O.S.H.C. Approved eye and face equipment must always be worn during
assembling of product.
Respiratory Protection
• Proper selections of respirator for a primary corrective measure in the control
of work-related illnesses by harmful dusts, fogs, fumes, gases, smokes shall be to
prevent atmospheric contamination.
Head Protection
• All employees shall completely cover their hair with a well fitted head cap
during production.
• Head cap materials should be durable to withstand regular disinfecting and
cleaning and must not be easily flammable.

Foot Protection

• O.S.H.C. approved footwear (Electrical Hazard Resistance Protection) shall


always be worn before entering production area.

Skin Protection

• A prescribe uniform for all production employee must be worn when dealing
and utilizing tools, materials and procedures which may cause injuries.

Clothing

• For employee’s protection, prescribed uniform must always be worn during


shift hours.
OTHER PROTECTIVE MEASURE

Non-Prescription Drugs or Alcohol


 Non-Prescription Drugs or Alcohol won’t be permitted at work. Anyone observed
to be in control of or affected by drugs or liquor won’t be permitted to work and is
at risk to be seriously discipline or fired from the company.
