Our Letter Sound Find & Match activity helps children develop their fine motor skills, independence, attention-span, self-confidence, problem solving
and early literacy skills. It corresponds to Common Core Standards RF.K.1.D and RF.K.3.A as children identify and name upper- and lowercase letters, use
letter-sound knowledge, and identify beginning sounds.
Prep:
Step 1: Print pages 4-10 in color or pages 11-17 in black and white.
Step 2: Laminate with 5 mil laminating pouches for durability or place in page protectors.
Step 3: Grab white and colored pom poms and child tweezers. Enjoy!
Directions:
Step 1: Place the pie or turkey mat you’d like to complete on the table.
Step 2:
Pumpkin Pie Mats: Count the number of circles on each pie piece. Use tweezers to pick up white pom poms and place them in the circles like whipped
cream (or you could use colored pom poms).
Pumpkin Number Mats: Read the number on the pie piece and place the same number of pom poms on the slice using tweezers.
Turkey Number Mat: Count the number of circles on the feathers. Match the color pom pom to the feathers. If the feather is blue, match blue pom
poms in the circles.
