You may take your seat now.
-Checking of Attendance:
T: Who are absent today? Very good, nobody is absent.
S: (Secretary will update for the attendance)
Review (Recall)
T: Last week, we discussed verbs. Are you aware that we use verbs most of the time in constructing sentences?
S: Yes ma’am.
T: By the way, what are the basic parts of a sentence?
S: Subject and predicate ma’am. Subject is the doer of the action or the one we are talking about while the predicate tells
something about the subject.
T: Very good.
Presentation of the Lesson T: What do you usually consider when you are asked to construct a sentence class? Why?
S: We consider the subject as well as the verb we use because we have to see to it that the verb must agree with its subject and
vice versa.
T: Very good. (The teacher will write verbs on the board(s-form and base form.)
Lesson Discussion: Rules on the Subject-verb agreement
1. Singular subjects take singular verbs and plural subjects take plural verbs
2. The verb agrees only with its subjects. Words between subject and verb do not affect the number of the subject.
3. A compound subject joined by and takes a plural verb but when they referred to as one unit, it takes singular verb.
(After ten minutes, the teacher will ask students to answer and state the rules on subject-verb agreement.)
