This module contains the lesson in applying concepts on the use of the software
(commands, menu, etc.). This will give the learners an idea in figuring out how to use a
software program and start with an understanding of all the features it contains and will help
the learners to familiarize each functions of the software before an actual application of the
concepts.

Today, you are going to apply concepts on the use of software (Paint). You will also
learn about the parts and functions of the toolbars in the paint application.
What is it
Many drawings and images software programs are available to create digital
logos. Some programs are downloadable or open source (Paint) and can be learned easily.
The picture below shows the paint software.

1. Title bar - This shows the name of the image open on the canvas (or "untitled" if
unnamed) and the paint.net version number.
2. Menu bar - This area houses seven menus on the left and six utility icons on the right.
3. Tool bar - Immediately below the Menu Bar is the Tool Bar. This houses several
buttons and controls for executing common commands and accessing
various paint.net features. On the second rank, adjustable parameters for
the active tool is shown:
4. Canvas - This is where the image is shown and edited. All drawings, selecting and
other editing actions occur here.
5. Color window - This is the primary area for selecting and managing colors. It contains
several controls for adjusting colors and opacity.
6. Status Bar- It shows the current status of MS-Paint

The toolbox is very useful because it contains the tools you will use in order to come up
with your drawing. These are the helpful toolbars and each functions:

1. Free-form select and select Tool. This is for selecting a specific object which you
can copy and paste in another location, or you can opt to delete that selection.
2. Eraser Tool. This is for erasing your drawing or the color you have applied.
3. Eyedropper Tool. This picks a specific color you want and makes it the active color,
meaning, whatever you do next will have that color.
4. Pencil Tool. You will use it for drawing.
5. Airbrush Tool. This is for spraying your object with color.
6. Line Tool. This is for drawing a line. To make your line straight, hold down the shift
key and then drag your mouse holding the left button. Select the thickness of the line
below the toolbox.
7. Rectangle Tool. This is for making rectangles. You can also draw a square by holding
the shift key.
8. Ellipse Tool. This is for drawing an ellipse, you can also draw a perfect circle by
holding the shift key before you start dragging your mouse.
9. Bucket Tool. As the name suggest, you can use this tool to fill an object with color at
once.
10. Zoom Tool. You can use to magnify a part of your drawing.
11. Brush Tool. You can use this for painting, just like you would paint your house.
12. Text Tool. You will use this for entering text.
13. Curve Tool. This is for drawing a curve.
14. Polygon Tool. This is for drawing a polygon but still you can draw a lot of other objects.
15. Rounded Rectangle Tool. This tool helps you to draw a rectangle with rounded
corners.

What’s More
Now, we will create a personal logo using the Paint application. Follow the steps
provided.
• First, turn on the gadgets and open the Paint software and insert shape.
• Second, on the shape toolbar, select the five-point star and drag to form a big star.
• Third, select oval shape and drag it to form eyes.
• Next, select the line and place it in the center to form a mouth.
• Then, select oval shape and drag it outside the star to form a big circle.
• Lastly, use the text box to insert name then, select the five-pointer star and place it
between the texts.
How to color the logo? To color the logo, select the bucket tool to fill with color on the
toolbar icon. Select the color you want and point the cursor on the shapes that you want to
color.
Value Integration:
One of your classmates in MAPEH created a very simple logo of their small
establishment, how will you show your appreciation to him?

1. Directions: Create your own personal logo, you may include your favorite colors, your
initials, simple shapes/symbols and tell something about it. Use the paint
application to do the activity.
2. Directions: In the absence of a computer, you can use graphing paper/make your own
lines and create/draw your personal logo design and tell something about it.
Please note to apply concepts on the use of the software in creating a personal
logo.
