A Detailed Lesson Plan in MATH VI

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to:

a. visualize the different solid figures: cube, prism, pyramid, cylinder, cone and sphere; and
b. illustrate the different solid figures using various concrete and pictorial models.

II. LEARNING CONTENT

A. Topic: Solid Figures

B. Reference: M6GE-III
C. Materials:

III. PROCEDURE

Teachers Activity Pupil’s Activity

A. Preparatory Activities

a.1 Prayer
Let’s have a prayer.
May God grant us with the wisdom to discover the
right, the will to choose it and the strength to make it
a.2 Greetings endure.
Good morning class!
Goodmorning Maam Suson
a.3 Checking of Attendance
Who are absent for today?
There is no absent sir.
I am glad to hear that. Let us give ourselves a
hand.

II. DRILL
Let’s sing a song

IV. MOTIVATION
Ok, I have here a different pictures, all you have to do
is to identify what kind of figure is this.

Ask the pupils to illustrate the figure

What
comes into your mind , when you hear about solid?
For me maam, solid is a three-dimensional figure. It
usually consists of flat surfaces and round surfaces.
Yes, Ella.

(Everybody claps.)

Very good Ellah!

Shall we give her round of applause!

Yes that’s right, A solid is a three-dimensional figure

that has surfaces.

A cube is a solid figure that has six square

surfaces of equal sizes. A cube can be
characterized by the length of its edges. This
length is denoted by “s”

A rectangular solid has six rectangular

surfaces. There three different
measurements that are necessary to characterized a
rectangular solid. These are the length, width, and
height.

Sphere is a solid that is round like a ball.

There is one measurement that
characterize of a sphere. The radius is the
distance between the center of the sphere
to the outer boundary.

Pyramid- a space figure with a base which

is polygon and with faces which are
triangles with a common vertex.

Cone- a solid figure with one circular flat

circular surface and one vertex.

VI.GENERALIZATION
Cone – a space figure with one circular flat surface
I have here the meaning of different solid figures: and one vertex
Everybody read!
Cube – a regular solid with six congruent square faces

Cylinder – a space figure with two bases that are

congruent circles.

Prism – a space figure which has rectangular faces

and bases which are identical parallel polygons

Sphere - is a solid figure which has all points

equidistant from a distant from a given point called
vertex.
