The Nutcracker is a ballet in two acts. The Nutcracker is P.I.

Tchaikovsky’s
eternal classic in the choreography by Vasily Vainonen. The Mariinsky Theatre
has two versions of this ballet. The one we have watched is considered to be the
classical one. This is the Christmas performance suitable for people of all the ages.
There is definite value in transferring music and story to a ballet. It is a
quality and the look that are consistent. The plot is based on E.T.A. Hoffmann’s
children’s story about magical mice, sugarplum fairies, toy soldiers and dolls that
come to life. That ballet made the author of the story and the composer popular for
all times. The plot is absolutely fantastic. The fight of good and evil, love and hate
is a moving power. It is a colorful and sensuous dance production.
What is more important the creator managed to tell the plot and organize it
in the right way with the logical ending without saying anything. As well as the
plot Vasily Vainonen, the choreographer of the performance, introduced the
characters gradually. This version lasts about 1 hour 40 minutes, however, those
who want more could visit the theatre and experience it with all the feelings and
emotions. This is not necessary for everyone but ballet-lovers will be amazed and
amused with the width and the scale of the performance.
It is a magnificent achievement, the story of friendship, love and heroism.
Along with famous there are also some young dancers. Moreover, there you can
see Vladimir Shklyarov as the Nutcracker Prince. He is a doubtless decoration of
the performance. With good reasons he is Honored Artist of Russia. Nevertheless,
in any ballet, the main character is always a ballerina. That is why the main
character is Masha the Princess created by Alina Somova. Her dancing very
technical and emotional, her easy, aerial, and at the same time powerful jumps
always cause a flurry of ovations. The dances are in the height of perfection.
Delight is what always causes the Nutcracker. First of all, this is a beautiful
fairy tale with a well-known plot. Amazing scenery, rich costumes, everything in
this ballet is at the highest level. In the first acts, the plot unfolds gradually, so that
in the second we can fully enjoy the magnificent classical dances accompanied
with the fascinating music of Tchaikovsky. Bright Spanish Dance, languishing
Eastern Dance, melodious Chinese Dance, cheerful Trepak, and fascinating Waltz
of Flowers performed by ballet dancers in gentle pink of border lights are the most
famous components of the second acts. In this part of the ballet, there are many
solo and duets that reveal the skills of the artists, and the audience meet them with
enthusiastic ovations.
Most of those who watched the Nutcracker also read the book. Moreover, it
is an incredibly exciting experience to see Vasily Vaionen’s adaptation and
compare the impression made by the book and the ballet. It makes love the world
of theatre and appreciate every minute of the exciting performance. Overall, it is a
great production and I would certainly recommend it to everyone to dip into the
vortex of dancing.
