a. What is descriptive text ?
A text which says what a person or a thing is like.
b. What is the purpose?
To describe and reveal a particular person, places, or thing.

1) About people

My Favorite Teacher

Identification My favorite teacher is Mr. Reni. She teaches English lesson. She is about forty two
years old. She lives in Jombang.

She is tall and thin. She is also beautiful. She has long, straight, and black hair. Mrs.
Reni has bright skin. Her eyes are black.
Description
Mrs. Reni is brilliant person. She is very patient and friendly. She always helps the
student who have some problem. She also answer when her student ask to her. That is
why a lot of student like her very much. Mrs. Reni is really a good teacher.
2) Describing animal

My Futsuka

Do you have a pet? Ok, now I would like to describe you about my pet. It is a hamster. It is a

male hamster. I named him Futsuka. In Japanese Futsuka means two. I gave name Futska
because he is the second hamster that I have. I don’t know about his origin country. I bought him
in a pet shop in this city.
Fustka is 29 days years old. He is very small. His body lies between 6 and 8 centimeters. He is
very cute. He has soft grayish-white fur, red eyes, and sharp nails. He also has long mustaches. It
will be shocked when I touch it. He also will bit my hand when I hold it. His hobby is sleeping.
Sometimes he sleeps in the cylinder in the cage or he likes sleeping in the corner of his cage. He

I fed him every day. His foods are sunflower’s seed, corn, and so on. Sometimes I give him

Lembah Pelangi Waterfall

Lembah Pelangi Waterfall sounds unfamiliar for either local or foreign tourists. Lembah
Pelangi Waterfall is located in Sukamaju village, Ulu belu sub district, Tanggamus district,

your eyes.

My favorite Blanket
I have a favorite blanket. I always wear every night to save my body so I can sleep comfortably.
Identification I got this blanket from my friend when I had a birthday. He gave me the blanket as a present on
my birthday, I really liked the basic ingredients and the design of this blanket.

My favorite blanket is made from ‘Fleece. This material is mostly made with artificial wool
which has a very soft surface texture. The material is also dense, but not thick and not thin. The

material can avoid the cold of the night, so I keep warm. The color is pink and is a picture of
sunflowers above. The size is 150 x 200 cm. The edge of the blanket is above with a blue cloth 5
cm in size.

2. REPORT TEXT
 What is ?
Report texts are texts which concerned with general categories of things rather than events
and happenings and with informing about technical and scientific topics.

 Difference between report and descriptive

- Some use of action verbs when describing behavior, eg Emus cannot fly;
- Use of timeless present tense to indicate usualness, eg Tropical cyclones always begin

- Use of technical terms, eg Isobars are lines drawn on a weather map;
- Use of paragraphs with topic sentences to organize bundles of information; repeated
naming of the topic as the beginning focus of the clause.
