A. Answer the following questions.


1. Define the term health. How can a person remain healthy?
Ans1. The term health refers to the state of complete physical
and mental well-being. Anyone can become healthy by
following these steps:
a. Eat a balanced diet
b. Exercise regularly
c. Take proper rest
d. Protect yourself from diseases
2. Why do we need nutrients in our diet?
Ans2.food contains nutrients which are the building material of
a body and provide us energy for growth and other activities.
3. Mention the role of each of the nutrients. Also so, write two
sources of each.
Ans3. Carbohydrate:they give energy to the body.
Carbohydrates can be obtained from potato, rice, bread,
cereals, sugar, fruits, etc.
Fats: They also give us energy but more than that given by
carbohydrates. The source of fats includes butter, meat, cheese,
vegetable oil, nut, milk, cream and ghee.
Protein's: they are essential for the growth of a body. Some
sources of proteins are eggs, fish, milk, cheese, pulses,
soyabean and meet.
Vitamins and Minerals: vitamins helps our body to fight
diseases and does keep it fit. Green leafy vegetables, fruit and
fish are different sources of vitamins. Minerals help in the
formation of teeth, bones and blood. Minerals can be obtained
from milk, fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs excetra, etc
4. What are the benefits of regular exercise?
Ans4. regular exercise is an important part of staying healthy.
The benefits of exercising regularly:-
a. Development of stronger muscles and bones
b. Improvement in the blood circulation of the body
c. Toning up of body muscles and thus maintenance of the body
in a good shape.
d. Prevention of many diseases like diabetes and heart
problems.
5. List ways in which we can maintain hygiene.
Ans5. Some of the ways to maintain hygiene are:-
i. wash your hands with soap and water before eating for
touching any food item. Similarly, wash your hands properly
after going to the toilet and playing with your pet. Washing
hands with soap and water removes dirt and germs present on
your hand.
ii. Take a bath daily. This remove the dust and sweat present on
your body. Moreover, it makes you feel fresh. Dry your towel in
the sun after bathing and get it was twice a week.
iii. brush your teeth at least twice a day. Brushing your teeth
remove the food particles that are stuck in between the teeth,
thus preventing the growth of germs. Also clean your tongue
with the tongue cleaner daily.
iv. Trim your nails regularly
v. the exposed parts of the body come in contact with dust and
germs throughout the day with get collected on them. So, you
must wash your face, hands and feet with soap and water
before going to the bed and moisturize them with cream or
lotion to keep them soft.
vi. Keep your room, home, school and other surroundings clean.
always throw garbage in a closed dustbin, keep used up utensils
in the kitchen sink only and put your dirty clothes in the
washing tub or machine.
6. Why do we need rest?
Ans6. We need proper rest to restore our vigour and energy.
While we sleep, our body gets time to repair its worn out cells
and tissues, and to relax. Also, it gets time to growwhile we
sleep. So, proper hours of rest are important to stay healthy
and energized.
7. what is a disease? What are the different reasons for
occurrence of diseases?
And.7 eye disease can be defined as the condition of abnormal
function of a part of the body for the whole
body.there are different reasons for occurrence of diseases like
deficiency of some nutrients and diet for impairment of normal
functioning of a body part.
8. Define communicable diseases and name some of them.
Ans8. The diseases that cannot be transmitted from one
person to another Are known as communicable diseases.
Example of these diseases include malaria dengue, plague, etc.
9. How do communicable diseases spread from one person to
another?
Ans9. these diseases are spread by germs. These terms can
spread through infected food, water, air, insect bites a direct
contact with the infected person.
10. What are non communicable diseases?
Ans10. The diseases that can be transmitted from one person
to another are known as non communicable diseases. For
example, anaemia, cancer, scurvy.
