1. Three (3) Things that I significantly learned from the readings

After reading, I have immediately realized that most learners indeed effectively grasp and
learn thru participating or indulging themselves into the lessons. I have also learned that there
are various things around us that could help us understand deeply and critically the aspect of
gender such as movies, toys, and books. Lastly, the reading made me comprehend the
complexity of gender, gender roles and its impact to socialization and society.

2. Three (3) Things that are still unclear to me

Although I get the message of the activity, I do not quite get the significance of wanting
to violate a certain gender norm. Furthermore, it is also unclear to me why it is necessary to
mention which gender is more superior in Mathematics in one activity. Lastly, I also did not
understand the relevance of looking into the smiles of the different genders in one activity.

3. I used to think that….

Before reading this, I used to think that Mathematics simply has no relevance in gender
and gender roles. I also used to think that children’s movies and books have no traditional
gender stereotypes in them. However, after reading, I realized that certain gender stereotypes
are portrayed in some of the biggest children movies. In addition, it can be seen that these
movies are created during the early 2000’s, where traditional gender stereotypes are
apparently valid.
4. Three (3) questions that I want to ask about the readings
Firstly, I would like to ask this question, “How do movies, books and toys impact the
gender of the children watching and playing with it?”. Secondly, I would like to know the
importance or relevance of one’s gender in expressing their emotions or anger, since mental
health is a very crucial topic for every gender. Lastly, I would like to know how we, the
people, will be able to educate ourselves more regarding the different gender roles and
stereotypes, because I know that this would be necessary in the current time.
