VISUALIZATION OF TTI AND TTA

I) Definitions:

TTI: Time To Intercept: Time To Intercept. It is the time calculated by the on-board computer that the missile will take to reach its target. It
is more or less exact if the target moves a lot therefore varies the predilection time to intercept. A bandit who comes in front of us and
then turns around completely changes the TTI. Indeed it will take longer for the missile to reach this target. So in this example the TTI is
growing.

TTA: Time To Activation: Time For Activation. This is the time that the missile will take before turning on its on-board radar, therefore the
time it takes to be autonomous and no longer need guidance from the plane.

II) Use:

Let’s take a simple example. Face to face between a bandit and me. I'm within shooting range, I'm
shooting. Fox 3 !!!

On the VSD:

In flight

Waiting

The 2 screenshots are taken at the same time. Note the 2 red frames and 2 green frames. The figures indicated in the 2 red frames are
the same. For the Greens it is also the same 2.

The Red : Missile in flight !!

The missile is fired, it is in flight. This countdown indicates the time before the missile becomes active. Note that the time is expressed in
seconds with a significant digit on the VSD while on the HUD it is expressed with 3 significant digits (x, xx sec). This absolute precision is
not useful and even makes no sense. At the end of the countdown, a second will begin. This 2nd countdown no longer indicates the time
remaining before its activation because it is already active. This 2nd account has

countdown therefore indicates in fact the time before the impact.

Notice that in the 1st countdown the writing was of the form Mx and the 2nd also. It is a bug. Normally the 1st countdown should be
displayed like this: Mx (it's like that in LO) then once the 1st countdown is finished, the 2nd should be displayed Tx. So first M (1st) and T
(2nd). Only in LO,

both are displayed with M. Not cool but should do with

The green : Missile awaiting launch !!!

This indicates something else entirely. The Red indicated the information on the missile in flight. This is also why it appeared only after
firing. Green offers him information about a shot that would occur now, the moment you read the information on the HUD or the VSD. It is
therefore information about a hypothetical shot. This information is the TTA. So this is information that gives you time at all times for the
missile to become active if you fire it now, the moment you read the info.

III) Special case:

- Imagine that you are close enough to the enemy so that as soon as the missile is launched, it immediately becomes active. You will
read in Green TTA = 0 because the missile will not wait before being active because the enemy is nearby. However in red you will read
the TTI. The 2nd countdown directly since the 1st is sleeping and already finished. It never even happened.

IV) Remarks:

- You fired your first missile .... It is flying towards its target .... You fired a second missile. The flight info on the 1st missile available in
the Rouge is overwritten by that of the 2nd missile. In this way, only the information of the last missile in flight is available.

V) Balance sheet:

This system is very interesting.

It gives you useful information on 3rd important thing.

- Time before activation (TTA) of the missile in flight: Red 1st countdown
- Time before Activation (TTA) of a missile that can be fired now: Green at all times

- Time before Impact (TTI): Red 2nd countdown

Be careful to differentiate the 1st and 2nd countdown. Since it is displayed both Mx, the error and quickly made. Be careful !
