Haeronga ki te Marae

Haeronga ki te Marae( Journey to the marae) is a Maori based game of Ludo. Every star
you land on, you will be required to answer the questions. These questions are to help you
remember Maori place names and to learn some Maori colours! The instructions are
explained below and I hope this board game will entertain you and hope that it also helped
you to know more Maori place names and colour.

Game instructions:

This game is designed for 2-4 players

The objective is to get all your tokens pieces into the base of your colour of the map.

Each player has 4 tokens in their starting base. Each turn, you roll the die and move a
token of your colour on the board.

To get your token out of your base and onto the board you must roll a 6. You also get an
extra turn whenever you roll a 6.

The stars on some coloured square mean that you have to answer the question, if you are
not sure or got it incorrect you will receive a “ Miss a turn card” meaning that you will
miss your next turn but you can continue playing after.

If your token happens to end up on top of another person’s token, that person’s tokens
must go back to their base until he or she rolls a 6 again to get it out onto the board.

If you ever land on your piece, you may “stack” the pieces and move them as one piece
until they reach the centre or are landed on by an opponent and sent back as individuals.

The first player to get all their tokens to the centre of the board wins and the rest continue
to play until there is only 1 loser. To land in the centre of the board, you MUST roll the
exact amount of spaces.
