Medical Center in the form of masks and other toiletries. The school continues to
reach out to the communities of Barangay 719, 33 and 34.

Due to the pandemic, schools have been closed, and as the school year 2020-2021
opens WCM will continue to provide classes with its New Normal of Learning. Hence, there are three modes of learning,
Option A: Purely Offline or for students who do not have computer or no Internet access. Option B: Mixed, for students who
have computers or other gadgets but no Internet access. Modules and other resource material are provided in digitalized
copies. And, Option C: Purely Online, for students with computers or other gadgets and stable Internet access. Modules and
other resource material are provided online. Class meetings are done in virtual classes via Google Meet. Actual books will be
provided for all options, and classes will open on August 24, 2020

n January 12, 2020, Luzon was devastated by the phreatic eruptions of the
Taal Volcano in Batangas after being inactive for the past 42 years. Calabarzon, Metro Manila, and parts of Central Luzon and
Ilocos Region suffered from the ashfall that came from the volcano which resulted in suspension of classes, work, and flights.

Many families were affected by the disaster that’s why many private sectors offered help to the victims. The Wesleyan College
of Manila also took action to help the affected families. The school distributed relief goods, blankets and clothes for the

Dear Graduates of Class 2020,

Never would I have imagined that in a span of a few weeks, my life, as well as yours could change forever.
I remember asking myself “What in the world is going on?” After a years’ worth of hard work, it surely is misera-
ble to lose the most anticipated event of our school year because of an enemy we can’t see. However, it is not
the end of our lives. Resiliency is a must. Learn to fight back and control your future. I know for a fact that your
sadness and disappointment is valid because I have felt it myself. With the uncertainty and anxiety that we’re
experiencing right now, it is just as important to take care of our mental health like our physical health because it
seems like we are all grieving for something we’ve lost. For some it may be a routine, a lifestyle, a job, or for us
graduates, a ceremony. Let yourself feel sad over these things. Feel sad over the friends that we had to abruptly
say goodbye to, the fun and educated exchange of ideas, the seemingly long
class discussions, and the expectations that we may never meet.

We may have a different past and will have a different future but we are a
family. We’ve grown with the best teachers, classmates, and friends the
world has to give. Without them, we won’t have the memorable mo-
ments we would look back to. We might’ve not gotten all of the memo-
ries, but look back at all of them now. Look at the friendship that changed us
for the better, the laughter, the successes and failures, the passion, the
blood, sweat, and tears that we’ve poured all over on our works, the time
we’ve invested in studying, and the pursuit of knowledge and excellence.
Now, look at what you’ve become through it all.

We may not have the happy ending of the year that we had dreamed of,
but we get something much more meaningful. We made history. “This
virus may have robbed us the rest of our senior year but it will not rob us
of our happiness.” Padayon Class of 2020!

Sincerely,
Euclid Quemada, SSG President, SHS Graduate

God has been faithful in my journey here in Wesleyan College. It was 5 years of learning, fun and fellow-
ship that I will always be grateful for. Like what the writer of Ecclesiastes 3:11, “He has made everything beautiful
in its time”. The path towards learning was not easy and perfect but by God’s grace I was able to finish well and
endure the process. My character as a student was being honed while I was studying here in Wesleyan. I could
not buy those learning experiences anywhere.

God used people to help me achieve my full potential as a student. Our hardworking president, our be-
loved principal, our spiritual leader Bishop Nacpil, our fun and loving teachers, my classmates and friends, they all
played a big role in my journey here in Wesleyan. The support that they gave me encourage me to give my best in
everything. I enjoyed the moments I have with them and I will keep it in me as I face the new chapter in my life.

Success comes with years of preparation, hard work and God’s guidance. Even if we are facing a great
challenge in our lives like the COVID-19 pandemic, I will not let this situation stop me from learning. Our school
prepared us to face difficulties like this. I learned that I should use every opportunity to grow whatever the sea-
son and wherever I am. Most of all, Wesleyan College guide me to trust in God at all
times.

To my fellow learners, let us continue to carry with us the values that

our school has taught us. To our dear parents, thank you for all your love and
sacrifice. We dedicate our success to you. Let me share with you my life
verse found in Philippians 4:13 - “I can do all things through Christ who
strengthens me”. Indeed, with God all things are possible.

In behalf of the school’s administration,
faculty and staff of the Wesleyan College
of Manila, I would like to express my
sincerest congratulations to all of you on
your graduation. Your four years of
diligence and hard work in your studies
has successfully paid you off.
Perseverance in pursuing your dream is
such a great honor. Your strong
determination has enabled you to reach
your dream that even the Covid-19
pandemic that we are experiencing these
days has never been a hindrance to your
success. Now, you have finally graduated
from college with your chosen degree. I,
and the rest of us in the Wesleyan college
of Manila, am so proud of you!
You may have finished your studies but
the journey to reality has just
commenced. Your graduation is just the
beginning of the greater journey into the
real world ahead, the journey of the
reality of work! Your diploma would serve
as your ticket to where you would want to
go. All you have learned in theories will be put into practice. In other words, what
you have learned will now make you into the persons you have wanted to become.
I want you to take note of this: in whatever path you may want to take, the challenge
will always be there. There’s so much tests that would come your way that you are
left with no other choice but to face it. That’s how life is! It may seem that there’s no
guarantee, regardless of how true and right it is which you think must be done and
followed, there will always be that fork on the road that would force you to choose
and make decisions. But always remember this verse in the Bible from Proverbs
19:20-21, which says; “Listen to advise and accept discipline, and at the end you
will be counted among the wise. Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is
the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”
I therefore want you to know that we are so proud of you! Congratulations for all
your years of hard work. We, in the Wesleyan College of Manila have high hopes
that your future will be as bright as you are! Don’t lose interest in the pursuit of
knowledge. Your experiences and challenges in life must serve as your strength. The
quest for knowledge is one of the important things a person can have for himself or
herself like you, and that can only be achieved through continues learning.
Allow me to end this message with this promise from the Lord in the Scripture;
Jeremiah 29:11; “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to
prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Kudos to all of you!
Congratulations batch 2020!

“WCM taught me on being independent, confident, responsible, determined, dedicated and

hard working individual that you can't learn in any syllabus books in school. They made
me realize the value of leadership qualities by giving me responsibilities that I thought
I couldn't handle. WCM built my confidence in interacting with people especially in
my interviews. To which now, I do applicant interviews. No words can express my
gratitude towards the school for teaching me great things. Thank you, my alma
mater. To my fellow Wesleyanians, We are the pilot of our future. We just have to
take off with optimism, steer the wheel to the direction of having to trust yourself
that you can do things right even if you encounter turbulence along the way. Always
remember there is 'no straight path'. Do not be afraid to fall as long as you can steer
the wheel and you know how to get back in the direction you want to explore. Fly
high, be proud, my fellow Wesleyanians!”
- Jamie Auleary De Castro, Batch ‘15-’19, Cum Laude

From my two years of experience being the President of the Supreme Student council, I’ve
learned that being a leader isn't simple. In fact, it is very hard. As a leader, you are
always under pressure to act like one. You have to earn the trust and respect of the
people you govern. You need to be the person people look up to. You should always
be open to negativity because you can't please everyone, including your colleagues.
The mistakes of your team are also your mistakes. Leadership is about taking
responsibility and not making excuses.

To my dear Wesleyanians, do not focus on the outcome of your plans and actions,
but focus on the learning process. Always remember that everything might not turn
out the way you expect it to be and that's okay. Don't pressure yourself into perfection
and let yourself do your thing with or without mistakes.

I attended an Iranian Women's Film Festival last March 4, 2020, held

in CCP Tanghalang Manuel Conde, Pasay City. It's a week-long
celebration, a tribute for all Iranian women. The film I watched was
"Season of Narges", which tackles about three different women and
their own stories, which is connected to each other. A woman who gave
hope and a life lesson to a man; a young woman who made a man
realize that life is beautiful; and a lady who understands the values of
life.

The film was emotional for me

because it made me realize that I am

Pagkadapa Hindi ‘Ko Alam
By Angel Navarro By Ma. Victoria Ancheta

Suddenly
Ngunit sa bawat pagkadapa
We fell asleep in one world and woke up in another.
Puso't isip ko'y hinuhulma Disney is out of magic,
Sa daan ko, ako'y mas maging handa Paris is no longer romantic,
Na magsimula muli ng mas puno ng pag-asa New York doesn’t stand up anymore,
The Chinese Wall is no longer a fortress,
And Mecca is empty,
Sa bawat pagkadapa
Mayroong pagbangon Hugs and kisses suddenly become weapons,
Sa bawat pagkadapa and not visiting parents and friends
become an act of love.
Mayroong pagtayo
Suddenly you realize that power, beauty, and money
Mga daan na hindi ko na mababalikan are worthless,
and can’t get you the oxygen you’re fighting for.
Ngunit akin paring sisimulan
Dala-dala ang aral mula sa aking pagkaligaw The world continues its life and it is beautiful.
Sa mga daan na kailanman hindi na maliligaw It only puts humans and cages.
I think it’s sending us a message:
At sa pagkadapa, ako'y natuto “You are not necessary”
Naranasan ko ang pagkabigo The air, earth, water and sky without you is fine.
When you come back,
Sa takbo ng mundo remember that you are my guests, not my masters.
Ako'y mas naging determinado
- Unknown
