    This document reports on the results of sequential and parallel Monte Carlo simulations of pi using Java. For the sequential simulation, the difference from the actual value of pi decreased as the number of samples increased from 500,000 to 32,000,000. For the parallel simulations using different thread counts and random number generator seeds, the time to compute pi decreased as the number of threads increased from 1 to 32 but the difference from the actual value of pi remained around 0.001 or less.

    Please note that the X-Axis intervals start with 500,000 samples doubling each time until
    a total of 32,000,000 samples. The seed value was 103.
    The Random Number Generator is a Linear Congruential Generator. The formula is as
    follows:
    nextSt = ((a * curSt) + c ) % m)
    In this case the value for m is 2147483647. The value of a is 16807 and the value of c is
