Q.NO.1
1. Direction of sliding velocity between two mating gears is
along_______________
2. Equation of motion of follower executing SHM is _____________

***Section II (5*2) ***

Q.NO.2 If addendum on pinion is same as that of addendum on gear is equal to unity.
Gear ratio is 3, and pressure angle is 200. Find minimum no. of teeth on pinion to
avoid interference. If minimum no. of teeth on pinion is 12 and minimum no. of teeth
on gear is 36, what is stubbing required to avoid interference?

Q.NO.3 Plate clutch (single plate, both sides effective), has inner and outer
diameters of friction surface 300 mm and 375 mm, respectively. The coefficient of
friction is 0.25. Determine the power transmitted by the clutch at a speed of 2400 rpm
for (a) uniform wear and (b) uniform pressure.
Given that maximum intensity of pressure is not to exceed 0.20 MPa in each case

1. Q.NO.4 For the mechanism shown in Figure, determine the velocities of
points C, E and F. Also calculate the angular velocities of the links BC, CDE,
and EF. Crank AB rotates at 120 rpm. The dimensions are: AB 60 mm, BC
120 mm, AD 50 mm, CD 100 mm, DE 120 mm, CE 50 mm, and EF 150
mm. (Hint: use scale 1cm=20 mm, make use of velocity diagram)
