III. Procedures
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES
1. Daily Routine
Let us all stand and pray (Everybody will stand and pray)
2. Greetings
Good morning class! Good morning, ma’am.
3. Checking of Attendance
Who is absent, attendance officer? Nobody ma’am.
Can you give me some examples of these Ma’am, we used Switch when
devices? And its function? connecting two or more
computers.
How about the tools and materials needed in (Student’s varied response)
splicing and creating LAN Cables?
Very good!
B. DEVELOPMENTAL ACTIVITIES
1. Activity
Before we proceed to our discussion, let’s have
a short game, do you like it?
So, last time I told you to searched and
memorized the color combination for LAN
Cabling.
MECHANICS
1. The teacher will give each student a colored
paper similar to LAN Cable’s color (Game Proper)
combination.
2. The teacher will say what color combination
the students will arrange. (T568A or T568B)
3. The students will find and create a group
according to what color combination the
teacher will say.
4. The first group to arranged will be the
winner.
Class what did you noticed about our activity a Ma’am arrangement of color
while ago? coding in Straight-through
cable.
Very Good! And what do you think is our topic Creating Straight-through
for today? cable, ma’am.
Very Good!
2. Analysis
1. Switch to PC
2. Switch to Router
3. Switch to Server
4. Hub to PC Straight-through cables are
5. Hub to Server used to connect different
devices.
Now, class from these examples, what have you
observed?
Very good!
Rule of Thumb:
We use straight-through cable when connecting
two different devices.
Am I clear?
Yes ma’am.
Now, here are the steps in creating a straight
through cable. You should carefully observe as I
demonstrate because after this, you will be
making your own straight-through cable. Am I
understood?
Give an example of a connection that uses The color standards used are
straight-through cable. the T568A and T568B.
For instance, I use T568B on this end of the The students enumerate the
cable, what color code will I use on the other steps
end?
4. Application
So, it’s now your turn to make your straight-
through cable. You already have your
groupings. You also have the tools and
materials with you. If you have any questions
during the activity, you should raise your hand Yes ma’am.
for you to be recognized. Also, minimize your
voice and avoid unnecessary noise while

IV. EVALUATION
Quiz

on the space provided. Each item is worth 1 point.
______ 1. Prepare all materials needed.
______ 2. Untwist the cable pairs, spread the wires, and arrange them based on T568B color
code.
______ 3. Trim the untwisted wires to about ½ to ¾ of an inch.
______ 4. Remove the outer jacket/insulation of the cable to about one inch.
______ 5. Repeat all the previous steps with the other end of the cable.
______ 6. Insert the wire firmly into the RJ-45 connector until all wires are pushed as far as
possible into the connector.
______ 7. Straighten and flatten the wires between your thumb and forefinger.
______ 8. Test the cable using the network cable tester.
______ 9. The exposed copper pins on the RJ-45 connector must be facing towards you. Ensure
that the wires are in order from left to right starting from pin 1.
______ 10. Visually inspect the cable and ensure the right wire codes match the pin numbers
and the eight wires should be pressed firmly against the end of the RJ-45 connector.
______ 11. Place the RJ-45 connector and cable into the crimping tool and crimp the RJ-45
connector until you hear a click from it.
