My Favourite Book
It's hard to imagine our lives without books. We learn a lot of interesting things
when we read books. Books are our great friend, teachers and advisers. They
teach us how to take the next step when we are in a difficult situation. They help
to shape our life. It is impossible to become an educated person without books.
Besides, books play an important role in upbringing our feelings, views and
tastes; give us a lot of useful information. It seems to me that books are a source
of emotional inspiration and it's a miracle in some way, because an author
provides a story and a reader can conjure the characters in his own way, to
imagine how they look like, their voices, gestures and facial expressions, etc.
I like to read books about adventures, thrillers and great people. When you read
books you find yourselves in different lands. Together with the characters of the
books you climb high mountains, go by ship in the stormy sea, and fly into space.
In a way, you have a lot of imaginative experiences.
I have read a lot of interesting books, but my favourite book is "The Adventures
of Tom Sawyer" by Mark Twain. This well-known book is popular with the
children all over the world. The main character of the book is Tom Sawyer, who
lived in a small town on the Mississippi River. He was a boy with a wild
imagination. He liked to play games with his friends. They often dreamed of
different adventures. Tom was sometimes naughty and never quite. But his
friends liked him because he was kind and brave. Besides, he was often noble
and always bright and full of ideas
Tom teaches us to be noble, kind and brave. He also teaches us to be a true
friend. I have learnt a lot about the life of children in America from this book. It's a
book that leaves long-lasting impression and unforgettable...
Many people don't realize the potential of books. It is a highly emotional even
when a serious book collector takes a well bound book of favorite content into his
or her hands; it is as though they are holding and cherishing an invaluable and
exquisite piece of art. Books have been an issue of many of religions and even
militant factions and yet, they remain today providing us with places to go, an
escape from reality, and higher knowledge.
First and foremost, books are free voyages to anywhere in the world. You can
open a book and with the flick of your eyes and the will of your imagination, be
where ever the book takes you. If the book is about Ireland, then you can read
about the country as though you were there and the only limitations as to how
real it may be, is your own imagination.
Another favored reason books are adored by so many, would be that while
reading a book you are escaping your reality; your day to day life. You can
become any character in the books you read and leave all of your troubles on the
back burner of your mind. It provides a much needed break from our day to day
activities and stresses and often times the relief allows us to better deal with our
problems. Sometimes you can read a book and it may present a solution to a
problem that had not even occurred to you.
Perhaps an even better result of books then a reality break would be that books
can provide knowledge to all ages and education levels. A person who is not
technologically skilled has difficulty using computers and the information
highway. They can pick up a book and find the same such information. Children
read and learn; developing their minds as they go. College students read books
to help them in their future degrees and careers. Even professionals read books
to update their knowledge of a subject.
To realize that a book may have traveled through numerous hands and a century
of time is a fascinating and exciting concept. Just imagine the many lives it may
have touched. With the pages perhaps yellowed, thick and dusty, or thin and
delicate, the word is still alive and just as profound and beautiful as it was when it
was created so long ago.
Whether fictional or nonfictional, there can be derived a value, relevancy, and
importance to the book. For example, consider a book written in 1918 on the
history of Poland. Much could be learned about the country and the author’s
perspective. But also consider what the author could not have known about the
country’s future at the time of writing. It is a study in itself. It not only gives a
story of Poland but an idea of how much things have changed since the book’s
publication.
A hobby is an occupation we pursue outside our normal duties, for amusement. Hobbies, in
general, make us busy and add charm and thrill to our humdrum existence.
An empty mind is said to be a devil’s work ship. Hence, it is very necessary to keep our
minds engaged in some fruitful activity even in leisure time. Development of a hobby is
required not just for pleasure’s sake but also for the sake of learning something new.
There are many kinds of hobbies- gardening, photography, fishing, painting, flying kites,
sculpturing, embroidery, knitting, cooking, shooting, reading books, watching television,
listening to music, playing musical instruments, bird-watching, stamp collection, collection of
old coins, etc.
The value and the usefulness of hobbies cannot be undermined or debated. They dispel
idleness, monotony, boredom and dullness which often engulf human life and mar our day-
to-day existence. They make us both physically and mentally active.
books also have the potential to widen our mental horizon and make us more enlightened.
Many books are indeed, highly informative and educative
Books can play a very important role in shaping our life because we can learn
lots of things easily from books. Books provide a great solution in front of us to
learn about anything and increase our knowledge level. Therefore, large
numbers of people around the world read books because they find them very
useful. Books are present in our world from many centuries in different forms and
shapes of books are changing with time. Today, we can find books in pdf or
audio formats as per the need of people. Though, all these books provide same
help by increasing our knowledge levels. People can easily buy books from...
Introduction:
Traveling backwards through time would definitely be the best idea to
witness the creation of the biggest source of information "the book", and we
would find out that people back then relied completely on books for information,
stories and history.
And the best way to reach into somebody's mind was to open his book.
Today, after the fascinating invention of the internet or in other words the World
Wide Web, books are no longer relied on and people buried all the books in
libraries. The internet is now considered to be the modern source of information
instead of the old fashionable books. Nothing can or should replace the book;
not the internet or any other popular electronic devices. Consider the
rudimentary and necessary efforts involved in the editing and critiquing of a book
before it goes into print. Can the same be said for the deluge of information
available on the World Wide Web on any given topic? Is the information being
scrutinized to assure accuracy or grammatical correctness? Is too much being
placed...
Paragraph 1:
The creativity of writing started 5,000 years ago in Egypt when people
used rocks and clay to write on, information and history began to be kept and
hidden instead of fading away with time. Years and years passed by and the
writing process started to develop until the 8th century where papers were made.
People at that time used books for everything and it was the most important
source for them to get information. Thousands and thousands of books were
made and the amount of information was huge, and it was really hard to find
some specific information among all this huge amount of books and pages. The
internet was finally invented and the great number of books and information
didn’t matter anymore. It's now the internet under the spot lights. And it can help
you get anything about any subject you want with less time and less effort. So
would this amazing invention replace books are the main source of info?
