SUMMARY
This recommendation report is for Christina Tyra, senior at North Dakota State University. You

show interest in the business and fashion side of the corporate world. After expressing that you want to

establish yourself and build your way up the corporate ladder I decided to conduct extensive research to

give you a detailed report on the three positions that have been offered to you.

Amsoil Inc.:
Amsoil Inc. is located in Superior, Wisconsin and is looking for a Business Segment Manager.

This company is looking for dedicated employees who will stand by the Amsoil brand and do their best in

managing employees within the corporation. They are offering great benefits and a good starting salary to

you and are willing to take you on and help you create your business self. (Amsoil Inc.).

Pink Nation:
Pink Nation is located in Reynolds, Ohio and wants to bring you on as a Merchandise Buyer for

their company. They need a team orientated person and offered you this position with no health benefits

up front but rather earned and a great starting salary. The location is a little further then the other two job

offers but it’s all about getting your name out there and taking advantage of every opportunity. (Limited

Brands).

Aerial Beauty Supply:

Aerial Beauty Supply is located in Marinette, Wisconsin and is offering you a head position in

their marketing department. They want you to bring your creativeness and leadership to better market

their products. The location is completely different then the other two locations because it’s a

smaller/quieter community that will let you start a family and be confident that you are in safe well

rounded area. (AerialCompany).

Recommendation:
I conclude that you should choose the Amsoil Inc. position because they have the most to offer

you not only with what they offer as a company but also with establishing yourself as a business woman.

You expressed that you are someday interested in starting your own company and Amsoil being a big

corporation will help you learn the business ethic and strategy that it takes to run your own business.

INTRODUCTION

When choosing a career it can be everything but an easy task, especially when you’re

offered three positions at one time. Knowing the background of each company and giving you an

 idea of what each location has to offer is a perfect way to find that “perfect” career that fits all

your needs and wants. Being offered jobs at; Amsoil, Pink Nation, and Aerial Beauty Supply

gives you a wide variation to work with and choose from. After doing extensive research and

giving detailed information I feel that you and I together will be able to choose the job that fits

all of your needs.

After conducting a simple questionnaire/interview you have given me the tools needed to

know what type of person you are and what you are looking for in a career. Given below is a

detailed recommendation report that will allow you to further educate yourself on each company

and each job position.

REPORT

Amsoil Background:

Amsoil is a company based on

history’s first synthetic motor oil that met

the American Petroleum Institute

requirements. Founder, president, and CEO,

Albert J. Amatuzio introduced the first synthetic lubricants to the public in 1972. After founding

Amsoil, Amatuzio marketed his products of synthetic motor oil as well as other oil formulas

which met and exceeded the expectations of every customer. Amsoil’s headquarters is located in

Superior Wisconsin (Amsoil Inc.). They continue to define themselves through Albert J.

Amatuzio by supplying the best synthetics to wholesale consumers, retail accounts, and

commercial accounts. Amsoil seeks to find enthusiastic, hard working employees. They base

their company on wanting to provide and sell cheap synthetic motor oil to great consumers

through communication to the world outside the company.

 You being a business administration major have acquired the knowledge to come into a

corporation such as Amsoil and help market their product in the most efficient way to maximize

profits (Amsoil Inc.). Amsoil is a company that prides itself on getting their product out there.

They need employees who are dedicated to the product and only want what’s best for the

company.

You also expressed interest in the fact that you are a woman who wants to make a

difference, someway or somehow. An Amsoil employee says; “Amsoil is committed to making

excellent products that reduce our need for foreign oil as well as treat our environment better.”

(SyntheticPerformanceOils). This quote is very important to you because it shows that Amsoil is

very much for making a difference and change they don’t only want to better the U.S but they

also want to better the environment.

Amsoil Position/Location:

Amsoil is offering you a position as Business Segment Manager, located in Superior,

Wisconsin. The responsibilities that are asked of you would include; development, planning, and

executing the marketing plan for each individual product. The requirements of Business Segment

Manager are:

 Bachelors degree in Business

 Excellent project management skills
 Experience in marketing
 Excellent communication skills
 Strong creativity and organizational skills
 Ability to understand technical concepts
 Ability to work with many different stakeholders within the organization

You have worked at Holiday Inn Hotel as an intern to learn what it takes to run a big

business. You posse many skills that are required for this job that include, communication,

leadership, and team work skills. Being part of accounting club and the leadership program at

North Dakota State University you have proven that you are a natural leader and can be thrown

into any sort of surroundings and adapt quickly.

Although you stated that you don’t want to base your decision on the salary and benefits

of each job we do have to admit that it will play some part in deciding which offer is the best

career. As business segment manager starting salary according to a salary calculator is $55,900.

(SalaryCalculator). This salary is a good way to start a life in Superior, WI. Now for the benefits

Amsoil offers competitive health benefits, 401K, and paid time off. These benefits provide

stability and help you start your career off on the right foot.

This job being located in Superior, Wisconsin poses no problem for you. You stated

numerous times that moving out of your comfort zone is something that you find exhilarating

and would like to take advantage of opportunities like that. Superior, WI also has a lot to offer a

new community member. After expressing your interest in new restaurants I proceeded to find

the many different restaurants that Superior, WI has to offer. These restaurants include the

hometown favorites; Gronk’s Bar & Grill, Anchor Bar & Grill, and Shamrock Bar & Pizza.

(Superior Trails). After satisfying your hunger don’t worry because there is a lot more that you

can do as a member of Superior. It’s neighboring Duluth, Mn. which opens up a whole new

window of options to consider. Duluth has Canal Park, great dancing clubs, and amazing

shopping. (Duluth). All of these attractions are important for you to consider because you said

yourself that you want to be a place where there’s plenty to do and one of those things has to be

shopping.

Pink Nation Background:

Pink nation is actually a sister company of the Limited

Brands. So a lot of Pink Nations background is based on the

Limited Brand itself. Founded in 1963 in Columbus, Ohio Limited Brand has committed itself

to, “building a family of the world’s best fashion brands offering captivating customer

experiences that drive long-term loyalty and deliver sustained growth for our shareholders.”

(Limited Brands). Limited Brand strives to provide consumers with lingerie, beauty, and

personal care that make them feel sexy. (LimitedBrands).

Expressing that you are very fascinated with retail makes Pink Nation an outstanding

option for you. You said that you love to make women feel comfortable in their own skin and

want to help them achieve that goal. This job at Pink Nation would definitely give you that

opportunity to interact with the customer and be a helping hand in choosing how to keep

providing great service to the valued customers. Also you shared with me that you are interested

in a company that isn’t based strictly around itself but concerned more about the people fueling

their company which would be the customers. Pink Nation/Limited Brands seem to structure

around their consumer’s needs and wants and the consumer is placed first with Pink Nation.

Pink Nation Position/Location:

Pink Nation is offering you a position as Merchandise Buyer in Reynolds, Ohio. They ask

you to possess many abilities including; counting and distributing predetermined amounts of

merchandise, rework and audit merchandise, manage warehouse, track information, and utilize

math skills. The requirements of Merchandise Buyer are:

 Bachelors
 Previous Experience
 Flexibility
 Attention to detail
 Team player
 Stand and lift continuously for long periods
 Hand eye coordination

As it’s already been stated you have experience being a team player and great

communication skills. You could offer a lot to Pink Nation, through your ability to lead different

groups by being involved in the community of Elk River, Mn. You have organized events

throughout the community such as; bake sales for your church and events to raise money for the

local high school. Pink Nation is looking for a spunky, outgoing person to manage the

distribution center and keep people motivated in what they are doing.(LimitedBrands).

The topic of salary stated before isn’t the most important thing to you but merchandise

buyers usually start out at $81,000 when working for a company at the caliber of Pink Nation.

This salary is quite a step up from the Amsoil job but it does have its disadvantages as well.

Amsoil is going to give health benefits and completive salary. Benefits are something that you as

an employee have to earn with Pink Nation by showing dedication and hard work within the

company.

Being located in Reynolds, OH makes this job a little bit further out of your comfort

zone. You had told me in our interview that you want to move out of our comfort zone but still

be close enough to your hometown to go there whenever you feel like it. Reynolds, OH has a lot

of great things to offer you and is an experience that could change your life. Reynolds, OH is

more of a community based town. It offers lots of scenic parks and relaxation spots, which you

expressed is something that is important to you; you said you want to enjoy the things around

you not just let work overpower your life. Also Reynolds, OH is only nine miles from the city

Columbus, OH which offers a great night life and gives you that homey feel that you are use to.

Aerial Beauty Supply Background:

Aerial Beauty Supply was

founded in 1912 by Fred Jaeger,

who originally started this company selling cutlery products. He sold knives, razors, scissors, and

barber supplies door to door throughout the country of Minnesota. Eventually in the 1930’s Fred

Jaeger’s wife Polly Jaeger got involved in the company turning it into a beauty supply store for

barber shops and hair schools. (AerialCompany). Today Aerial is a well-known beauty supply

store all over the country and prides itself on being a customer driven company that is made up

of a team of trained, motivated, and dedicated associates. (AerialCompany).

This is something that you are looking for when deciding on which career opportunity to

pursue. In your questionnaire you said that you wanted to work somewhere that equality plays a

big role in the job description. Clearly equality is something very important to Aerial Beauty

Supply. Fred Jaeger let his wife come in and take over/run his company when this was virtually

unheard of in that decade. Also you said you are highly motivated and want to be at a job that

isn’t boring to you. Aerial beauty supply is a fast paced company that would constantly have you

on your toes.

Aerial Beauty Supply Position/Location:

Aerial Beauty Supply is offering you a position in their marketing department. They are

looking for someone with great design ideas and who can work as a team player as well as take

leadership over the group. The requirements for this position are:

 Design and develop salon marketing strategies

 Move salon products to salon customers
 Bachelors Degree
 3-5 years experience or equivalent combination
 Read, analyze, and interpret information
 Compose business reports
 Respond to questions from managers, customers, and the general public

You have stated numerous times that you have work experience in a salon, this

experience gives you an advantage when starting out at this job. Also you have the extensive

education that it takes to do this job, having graduated from NDSU with a bachelor degree in

business and having the experience in the salon you already know what the consumer wants and

needs are and you have that networking between you and clients has already begun.

Salary and benefits for this job are similar to the other two job options, salary is similar to

Amsoil in the fact that you’d be starting out in the $50,000 range and the benefits are that of Pink

Nation, there aren’t benefits laid out on the table but rather you need to show company loyalty

This job being located in Marinette, Wisconsin will give you the opportunity to

experience a different city. Like stated twice before you said you are looking for something new

and exciting and Marinette, WI could give you just that. Although Marinette, WI is a little more

low key then the other two locations it has a lot to offer, through recreation parks, a civic center,

and park concerts. This city also has the restaurants and social part that you would be looking for

to meet new people. (Marinette,WI). Marinette, WI is completely different then the other two

locations and might give that appeal when looking at what job to take.

CONCLUSION/RECOMMENDATION

After looking through all of my detailed information and doing the extensive research

necessary I have concluded that the best job position for you to take is the Amsoil position as

Business Segment Manager. This position gives you everything that you are looking for when it

comes to choosing a great career; it gives you room for advancement, great benefits, a fair

starting salary, and a location with lots of things to do as well as a comparable distance from

your hometown of Elk River. You want to be a leader and grow through a company and Amsoil

gives you that freedom and range to become a great business woman and will help you establish

yourself so maybe one day you can open your own business. Along with going beyond all of the

requirements that this job entails I think it will open your eyes to a whole new life experience

without taking on too much at one time.
