Flora Consult and its activities:

The objectives of Flora Consult are as followed:

1. To increase the viability of Indian Floriculture by backward and forward integration of


industry.
2. To develop hi tech floriculture in new regions of India.

3. To train skilled and unskilled workers in various activities of the project development.

4. To incorporate appropriate technology for the development of hi tech projects region wise.

5. To develop international markets to enable the growers to get highest returns for its product.

6. To introduce latest and right type of cultivars to get best yields and proper markets.

7. To incorporate innovative marketing methods for the development of domestic market in


India.

Flora Consult Projects:

a. Prima Rosa Flowers, Aathi River, Kenya - An export oriented project of 27Ha
b. Zuri Roses, Nyahruru, Kenya- A flower export project of 37 Ha. Flora Consult is
working on expansion of additional 50 Ha of this project.
c. VSL Agrotech Pvt. Limited – A 25 Acres project in Karnataka, for exports of flowers.
d. Land Mark Agrotech Pvt. Ltd. – A 15 Acres project at Gujarat
e. Rohan Floriculture, MIDC Floriculture park at Talegaon Dabhade, Pune
f. Maria Flora- Flower Project at Chennai
g. Best Roses Biotech Pvt. Ltd. – 15 acres export oriented flower project, Gujarat

Work Experience:
1. Worked as Vice President at Global Agritech Pvt. Ltd., this is an ambitious project located at
Village Takve, in Maval Taluka. The main theme of the work revolves around expansion of
the project with low cost wooden green houses, irrigation systems, plant material etc. The
design and installation of all the green houses and irrigation system will be done by the team
led by the undersigned. Established a modern show house for International Breeder Schreurs
at Global Agritech I Pvt Ltd.
2. Worked as President Fila Rozil Exports (P) Ltd. The Fila Rozil is a 2.5 Ha Cut Rose project
situated at Kamshet at the foothills of Lonawala. The undersigned was responsible for the
planning, implementation and operation of complete project. The project erection and
functioning was completed in record three and half month’s time. This was one of the low

cost project having every input of indigenous origin. Presently the project is running
successfully. This is first Indian floriculture project awarded ISO9002.
3. Worked as Vice President in Stokman Roses (I) Ltd for a 4 Ha Cut Rose Project. The unit was
100% EOU. The project was a joint venture with a well known Dutch Rose company called
Stokman Rozen. The undersigned was responsible for the project implementation,
coordination with the collaborators, marketing arrangements, strategy planning, project
management etc.
4. Worked as Manager at Sugar Corporation of Uganda Ltd., Lugazi, Uganda. The Sugar
Corporation decided to venture in to Cut Flower export business in 1991. The entire
responsibility of initiation and implementation was given to undersigned. The project was
completed with technical consultation from Israeli and Dutch consultants .The undersigned
has worked hand in hand with Israeli and Dutch consultants. The project was independently
managed by undersigned.

The main activities undertaken are given below:

* Feasibility study of the project:

The feasibility study of the project was done in 1991 for 2.5 Ha project of green house roses with
option for the expansion up to 10 Ha. The feasibility study proved to be success and all the
projections indicated were achieved. The project size became 7 Ha of one dozen varieties of roses
including one Ha of out door roses.
Two more Detailed Project Reports were completed for the similar projects in Uganda. Feasibility
for the expansion of the project to 20 Ha was also completed.

* Project planning and schedule of implementation:

The project was planned according to international standards. The project is known as the best in
Uganda. The project was successfully completed in scheduled duration.

* Selection and sourcing of material:

The material for the project was sourced from Israel and Holland. The selection of material viz.
Green House, Computerized Irrigation and fertigation, field equipment, cold storage facility etc.
has proved its worth to the project.

* Erection and technical installation:

Complete supervision and monitoring of the erection and technical installations was performed
which included:
a) Green House Erection
b) Computerized Irrigation and Fertigation System
c) Centralized Plant Protection Unit
d) Post Harvest Handling Centre

* Marketing of Flowers:
The marketing arrangements were made with two import agents for the half the produce and
remaining half was exported directly to Dutch Auctions. The prices fetched by the flowers were
very attractive and were always higher than the average price for given variety at a given time.

* Project management:

The undersigned worked thoroughly with Israeli and Dutch experts on project management front
for one year.
The complete project was managed by the undersigned the main activities are given below:

a) Green House Management
b) Crop Management
c) Irrigation and Nutrition Management
d) Post harvest Management
e) Marketing
f) Administration

4.Worked under Plasticulture Development Scheme at Water Technology Centre, at I.A.R.I.New


Delhi , India as Scientist Pool Officer.
The scheme was promoted by ICAR and Indian Petrochemical Corporation Ltd. for the
promotion of the use of the plastics in Agriculture . The major thrust was on the Green House
Cultivation , Drip Irrigation , Plastic Mulching and Packaging of Agriculture Produce.
During the tenure following were the main topics of experiment :

a) Feasibility studies on Plastic Green Houses for off season vegetable


crops for small farmers.
b) Studies on the low cost green house design.
c) Comparison of the Tomato yields in Green House vis a vis out door.
d) Studies on the effect of different types of mulches on the productivity
of vegetable crops.
e) Studies on the effect of different types of drip irrigation emitters on
Orchard farm.
f) Arranged exhibitions for the promotion of the use of plastics in
agriculture with special emphasis on green house cultivation and drip
irrigation.
g) Training of irrigation personnel from various Government agencies
under Trainers Training Program.

5. Worked as Agricultural Engineer at Dates, Citrus and Wheat farm at Al Hasa, Saudi Arabia.
The project was owned by Al Rashid Group of Riyadh. The main crops were Date Palm , Citrus
and Wheat.
The duties performed during the tenure are as under :

a) Design and Installation of drip irrigation for 800 Ha Orchards Farm.


b) Irrigation and Fertigation scheduling and implementation of whole
farm.
c) Design and installation of solid set sprinkler system for 400 ha Wheat
project.
d) Design and Implementation of Sub Surface Drainage system for300
Ha area with salinity hazards.
e) Operation and maintenance of 200 Ha Center Pivot Irrigation Systems.
f) Supervision of the agriculture machinery operation and performance.
e) Planning of annual farm budget and activities.

6. Worked as Assistant Professor at College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology,


Junagadh.The job included full time teaching. The courses undertaken for teaching :

a) Industrial Engineering
b) Irrigation and Drainage Engineering
c) Hydrology and Watershed Management

Extra Curricular Activities:

a) Represented Central Province Basket Ball Team in the National


Tournaments in India, was selected among the probable of the Indian
Team in the years 1978 to1 980

b) Represented University Table Tennis Team in the Inter University
Tournaments in India in the years 1983 to 1984.
