    Activation Key usage and Windows 7

    Professional installation guide

    Please start from page 11 when you already have an unactivated Windows 7 Professional.
    Otherwise please start from the beginning of the document.

    Please notice; to use Microsoft Download Portal to download Windows 7 Professional


    installation files, you need a retail key. This is an OEM key, therefore it is not possible to
    download operation system files from Microsoft.

    Our keys only work with Windows 7 Professional. Special versions like Windows 7 Professional N,
    K, KN or Media Center Edition will not activate with our keys.

    An activation key comes mostly with hardware and installation DVD, and therefore it is not
    eligible for online system downloads.

    How to create a bootable USB memory stick?
    We will copy this ISO file onto a USB memory stick to be able to use it as a startup medium. For
    creating a bootable USB memory stick, please download the following tool:

    Please copy and paste the link into your browser’s address bar, some PDF readers break links

    After downloading the tool please install it. After installation you will find the Windows 7 USB/DVD
    download tool in your start menu. Please open it. You will be welcomed by this screen:

    Please click Browse to choose the ISO file you’ve downloaded in the previous step. In the next
    screen we will choose the media type. Please select USB. (You can select DVD too, if you want
    to install Windows using a DVD player. The guide will still help you with the remaining steps.)

    Please insert your USB memory stick and select it in the following screen. Please make sure you
    have selected the right drive. We will delete the contents of the chosen drive.

    After selecting your USB memory stick please click on Begin copying to start the creation of
    your bootable Windows 7 Professional installation media.

    After your bootable USB device is created, please exit this tool and restart your computer.
    Please make a backup of any important files on your hard drive. We will install a new operating
    system; this will delete everything.

    Alternative way to create a bootable installation media

    In case you need to install .Net Framework and can’t find it where to install you can use the
    following alternative way to create a bootable installation media.

    Please download and install the software Rufus by clicking the following link.

    After you’ve installed Rufus, please insert your USB flash disk into a USB port and start Rufus.
    Following screen will welcome you. Please make sure that your USB flash disk is selected in the
    device section. Please note that this software will wipe the entire disk selected in the device
    section, therefore please make sure that your USB flash disk is selected and NOT your hard
    disk.

    Please click on the dropdown box shown on screen to select ISO Image

    Now click on the button shown on screen to select the downloaded ISO file.

    After you’ve selected the downloaded iso please make sure that ”Standard Windows
    installation” selected, and then click on Start.

    Now confirm that you want to overwrite the disk. Please make sure the selected disk is your
    USB flash disk.

    It will take some Kme to create the bootable installaKon media. A0er it is finished please
    click on Close to close the so0ware. You can now use the USB flash disk and proceed with
    the installaKon.

    How to select your USB memory stick as Boot disc?
    Please restart your computer after you made sure you have a copy of all your important files. At
    the BIOS boot screen (you will see Press F12 to Choose Boot Device or a similar text on your
    screen) please choose your USB memory stick as boot medium.

    After selecting the right USB flash disc as your boot disc, please save your BIOS preferences
    and restart your computer.

    How to install Windows and enter your activation key?
    Your computer should start installing Windows 7 Professional. Please follow the steps until the
    Product Key section. Enter your product key at the Product Activation step and click
    Automatically activate Windows when I’m online.

    We will need to activate your windows using phone activation. If any error message is shown
    after this screen please choose to activate later or activate using phone activation. Please see
    the next section for phone activation.

    How to activate your Windows 7 Professional?

    1. restart computer
    2. make sure that you've an active internet connection
    3. check date and time and correct if necessary
    4. start command prompt as an administrator
    5. type slmgr /upk and press enter (this will uninstall the installed activation key from your
    system)
    6. type slui 3 and press enter. A window will open, please enter your purchased activation key
    and confirm it. This will start the activation

    If this should fail, please try the phone activation below.

    Please right click on Start and click on Proper)es the the menu opened.

    Click the “Ac)vate Windows now” link at the bo$om of the window.

    Select “Show me other ways to ac)vate” from the AcKvaKon menu.

    Enter your Windows 7 Home Premium acKvaKon key at the prompt.

    Click Next. Select the “Use automated phone system” from the list of opKons. You may be
    prompted to enter an administrator password. If so, enter the password, and click OK.

    Select the locaKon that is closest to you. You will be given a list of numbers that you can call,
    and an installaKon ID number will be displayed in the window.

    Call the number. You will be connected to an automated system that will guide you through
    the acKvaKon process. You will be prompted for the installaKon ID that is displayed on the
    screen.

    Use your phone’s keypad to enter your InstallaKon ID. Write down the confirmaKon number.
    A0er you have entered the installaKon ID, you will be provided with a confirmaKon number.
    Write it down or type it into Notepad.

    Enter the confirmaKon number into the acKvaKon window and click Next.

    A0er this step your Windows will be acKvated successfully. If any issues arise please do not

    Some common issues and how to resolve them
    Q1 - I have tried to activate but is shows non genuine and requests me to buy a
    new key

    In such a case we highly recommend checking the integrity of your system files.
    Here are the steps for a scan and reacKvaKon:

    1) make sure that you've an acKve internet connecKon


    2) check date and Kme and correct if necessary
    3) restart computer
    4) start command prompt as an administrator
    5) type sfc /scannow to scan the integrity of system files
    6) restart the computer
    7) start command prompt as an administrator
    8) type slmgr /rearm to reset the expiry (important for reacKvaKon)
    9) restart the computer
    10) start command prompt as an administrator
    11) type slmgr /upk and press enter (this will uninstall the installed acKvaKon
    key from your system)
    12) type slui 3 and press enter. A window will open, please enter your
    purchased acKvaKon key and confirm it. This will start the acKvaKon
    13) type slmgr /xpr to see the acKvaKon status

    If this should fail, please let us know with the error message

    Q2 - I have activated my OS successfully but updates don’t seem to work

    The update issue you've menKoned is a Windows bug which unfortunately hits
    rarely our customers too. Please check the following link for a cure:

    Q3 - My WiFi or any other hardware component don’t work

    installaKon of device drivers is hardware related, therefore we don’t cover it in our


    user guide. Please check your device manufacturers website to download and install
