In the courses that you are currently taking, identify practices that can be considered as
following the traditional orientation and those that are progressive in orientation.

1. What is your own definition of curriculum? Write down your answer in at least two paragraphs.

For us, curriculum is a systematic process of learning that involves set of courses in every
field of specializations. It involves the lessons, topics and the subject matter to be taught in
school. These are composed of experiences under the guidance of the teacher.
Teacher and students will engage in such various activities for an effective learning.
Students are encourage to counduct out of school activities for as students learned beyond their
limits. In such case, students able to relate real life situations.

2. Do you have a traditional Point of view of a curriculum? A progressive view or both? Explain
your view based on your definition in question No. 1.

A traditional curriculum deals with teacher-centeredness in teaching and learning


process. Student's learning has limitations because they only depend on the teacher as sources
of their informations in gaining knowledge. Their only basis are the knowledge and theories.
While a progressive curriculum, deals with student-centeredness. It focuses on the hollistic
development of the students. Teachers are only facilitators for the students learning..

3. In tabular form, cite five (5) traditional and five (5) progressive practices you have experienced
in the classroom or observed in typical ZSCMST classroom.
