PREFACE

As a part of Fashion Institute of Design and Management (FIDM) student to


gain knowledge in the field of fashion I required to submit a Lakme Fashion
Week Winter/Festive 2019 project to fulfillment of the required knowledge about
fashion industry their designer and model information. This is the project
proposal of the Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2019 collection.

In this project proposal I have included the details of the designer their collection,
with their celebrities showstopper ,and all the details of the model along with the
fresh face as a model of this year.

I am very glad to present this project proposal,this project proposal is very sincere
attempt to study and undersatand the overall project.

INTRODUCTION

Lakmé Fashion Week (LFW) has earned renown as one of India‟s most prestigious
fashion show that takes place twice a year, with the Summer/Resort show in the
early months of the years, and the Winter/Festive show in August. Run through a
collaborative effort between cosmetic brand Lakmé and IMG Reliance Ltd, which
has made a name for itself in fashion, and entertainment marketing and
management, the fashion show was conceived to allow Indian fashion to gain a
foothold in the global fashion scene.

The Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) Winter/Festive 2019 edition is scheduled to take
place from August 21 to 25.
LFW will once again spearhead conversations around innovation, creativity,
circular fashion, cutting edge design and technology at the upcoming edition.
Lakme Fashion Week has always focused on launching ground-breaking beauty
and fashion trends and showcasing them on the runway.

DESIGNERS

MANISH MALHOTRA

Manish Malhotra is a leading Indian fashion designer who has spent 29 years in the
field of costume designing for over 500 movies and innumerable designs. With a
team of 700 artists, craftsmen and professionals spread across the country and
international waters, his namesake label has marked 14 years in the fashion
industry. Manish started his career in 1990 as a Costume Designer in the „Indian
Film Industry‟, popularly known as Bollywood. Having won the first Filmfare
Award for Costume Design in 1995 for the film Rangeela, Manish Malhotra
redefined and contemporized costumes in Indian Cinema.

RITU KUMAR

Ritu Kumar is one of the foremost designers in the Indian fashion industry credited
with boutique brands such as „Ritu Kumar‟ and „Ri‟ along with „Label Ritu
Kumar‟ which runs under the leadership of her son. Recipient of the Padma Shri
Award in 2013, Besides the Padma Shri award, she has also received the
Achievement Award in 2012 at L‟oreal Paris Femina Women‟s Awards and the
Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini award for her role in the development of the fashion
industry. Over the span of her career, she has been bestowed with many other
honors.

GAURI AND NAINIKA

Gauri & Nainika Karan launched their label Gauri & Nainika in January 2002 in
New Delhi. A ready-to-wear brand of western wear ranging from semi-formal
styles to high-end demi-couture ones, the label offers glamorous, elegant and chic
styles at competitive prices.Gauri & Nainika Karan grew up in New Delhi. Though
originally students of economics, they were always inclined towards fashion and
the creative arts. After studying at The National Institute of Fashion Technology
(NIFT, New Delhi), they launched their ready-to-wear label Gauri & Nainika.
They grew up inspired by the classics and the romantic look of old Hollywood
heroines such as Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly whose timeless elegance has
been incorporated in their designs. With a design philosophy that is distinctly
feminine and refined, their collections are being retailed all over the country at
various outlets and exclusive boutiques.

ARPITA MEHTA

Arpita Mehta is a talented young Indian fashion designer. She graduated in apparel
manufacture and dress design from S.N.D.T. University in Mumbai and went on to
win the most glamorous designer of the year award in her graduating fashion show.
Then she worked under renowned fashion designer Manish Malhotra for two years.
Arpita Mehta started her own label in the year 2007. Her collections comprise of
contemporary ethnic as well as fusion ensembles largely focusing on intricate
embroidery consisting of vibrant anchor threads and mirror work. Arpita has her
own studio in Juhu, Mumbai. She has also showcased her collection at the Lakme
Fashion Week 2019.

ROHIT GANDHI AND RAHUL KHANNA

Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna is an established designer brand from India,


founded in 1997 in New Delhi. They specialize in both men and women.
The designers have been awarded “Best Prêt Collections” for Men‟s and Women‟s
wear on numerous occasions. In addition to the main ready-to-wear line, the
designers also branched into Couture and launched their first ever Indian collection
in 2018.
Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna believe in crafting garments that are timeless and
elegant. Their clientele varies from all walks of life. They are well known for
styling prominent faces of national and international celebrities from the film &
music industry.

KUNAL RAVAL

Kunal Rawal is a fashion designer, who specializes in men's fashion apparels.


Kunal is also the youngest designer to debut at the Lakme India Fashion Week
ever. His style can be best described as a blend of regimental influences and
contemporary silhouettes with a flavor of today's India. Everything from his
sherwani coats, summer suits, trade mark kotis, breech pants to cotton bandhgalas
and boots reflect his individualistic style statement of beaten cleanlook. Kunal's
designs have been vowed and donned by many Bollywood celebrities like Amitabh
Bachchan , Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan,
ShahidKapoor,RanbirKapoor,PrateikBabbar,AbhayDeol.
Kunal has been closely associated with Being Human Foundation and his work at
Being Human Show at HDIL Couture Week, 2009 was highly appreciated. He has
an impressive body of work with an art collaboration with actor Salman Khan.

AMIT AGGARWAL

Amit Aggarwal is an Indian fashion designer. He graduated from the National


Institute of Fashion Technology, New Delhi in 2002. Aggarwal showcased his
collections through student competitions around the world and soon began working
with some of the country's renowned designers such as Tarun Tahiliani. Amit
Aggarwal started the label Morphe in 2008, in collaboration with the Creative
Group. In May 2012, he launched his eponymous label „Amit Aggarwal‟. The label
combines the best of locally sourced factors with a progressive aesthetic, resulting
in precisely executed garments which represent the metamorphosis of raw
influences, both fantastical and mundane. The results are pieces which are modern
and eclectic, yet hold a timeless appeal.

ANUSHREE REDDY

Anushree Reddy is a prominent fashion designer of India known for her simplicity
of designing background. She completed her MBA from Cardiff University and
joined Hyderabad based Lifestyle magazine called „You and I‟, as a fashion stylist
and editor. This was the moment when she realized her true calling existed in the
fashion industry.

Reddy has a paragon of talent when it comes to her designing ethnic wear like
Sarees and lehenga. Not to mention the designs already appear in all bride-to-be‟s
wish list. Her distinct sense of creations offers fresh and young looks along with
the soft and tender blend of the pleasing color palette. She is inspired by the
vintage styles, floral pattern combined with Zardozi embroidery from Hyderabad.

GAURANG

Gaurang is an award winning self taught designer based in Chennai, who


specializes in Jamdani weaves for Sarees and outfits. He works with over 700
weavers across India in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu,
Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and West Bengal.

He started his journey of reviving hand-woven textiles with a few looms in Andhra
Pradesh, and today works with over 700 weavers across India in the states of
Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan,
West Bengal and Bangladesh reviving the traditional weaving technique of
“Jamdani”. Niche woven textiles Gaurang is a self-taught designer who
had belief in the Indian textile art and a passion to bring the weavers on the
forefront.

NACHIKET BARVE

Nachiket Barve is an Indian fashion designer. He is an alumnus of the National


Institute of Design (NID) as well as a scholarship holder at Ecole Nationale
Superieur des arts Decoratifs, Paris. Nachiket launched his eponymous label as a
part of the Gen Next at Lakme Fashion Week and has shown many acclaimed
collections since. He was the first Indian designer to be invited to show at the
Buenos Aires Fashion Week in Argentina, as well as at Coterie in New York. The
designer won the “Young Fashion Entrepreneur of the Year” award by The British
Council and Elle in the year 2010 and represented India in London. The label
stands for modern, progressive design that‟s clever yet commercial, timely yet
timeless.

OPENING DAY : AT LAKME FASHION WEEK
 MANISH MALHOTRA COLLECTION
The Winter/Fall edition of Lakme Fashion Week 2019 was kickstarted on 21
August, with Katrina Kaif turning showstopper for designer Manish Malhotra.

Malhotra showcased his collection Maahrumysha, "a celebration of resplendent


beauty in dazzling details of Indian couture." Katrina looked stunning in a black
lehenga with gold embroidery.

 VINEET RAHUL COLLECTION
Malavika Mohanan displays a creation of fashion designer Vineet Rahul during a
fashion show at Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) Winter Festive 2019 in Mumbai. The
collection taps into the elements of love, devotion, flamboyance and vibrancy-
through our contemporary and neo-Indian interpretation of Pichwais in the world
of colour and fashion.

 PALLAVI MOHAN COLLECTION
The Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2019 Day 1 had both newbies and
veterans showcasing their collection. Bollywood actress Esha Gupta walked the
runway for label „Not So Serious‟ by designer Pallavi Mohan and she adorned her
ensemble with antique rose cut diamond studs from the UMESH JIVNANI Luxury
Jewels collection.

DAY 2:AT LAKME FASHION WEEK

PAYAL SINGHAL COLLECTION


Designer Payal Singhal showcased her collection titled #PS20 on the second day of
Winter/Festive edition of the Lakme Fashion Week to celebrate her 20th year in
the fashion industry. .Bollywood actors Farhan Akhtar and Shibani Dandekar were
the showstoppers for the designer. The collection has been inspired by gypsies and
bohemia which resonates with the brand.
The collection comprises of jacket cholis, lehenga salwars, bomber jackets,
blazers, drop-crotch pants, cropped skirts, and sarees.

Designer Amit Aggarwal on day 2 launched his luxury pret collection
called „Flux‟ at the Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2019 with
cricketer Hardik Pandya and actress Lisa Haydon walking on the ramp
as showstoppers.

 RIDHI MEHRA COLLECTION


Ridhi Mehra unwrapped her collection “An Ode To Heirlooms”,
at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2019, to a highly appreciative
audience.The underlying mantra lay in the belief that “Anyone may have
diamonds but an heirloom is an ornament of a different kind.”
Diana Penty turns gorgeous showstopper for Ridhi Mehra at Lakme
Fashion Week Winter Festive 2019. Further, Diana Penty walks in an
intricately embellished lehenga. Moreover, An Ode to the
Heirlooms features gorgeous lehengas, anarkalis, gowns and bridal wear
outfits.

 JAYANTI REDDY COLLECTION

Pooja Hedge displays a creation of fashion designer Jayanti Reddy during a


fashion show at day 3 of Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) Winter Festive 2019
in Mumbai. Jayanti Reddy showcases Benares and Beyond at Lakme
Fashion Week Winter Festive 2019. Further, Pooja Hegde stuns as a
showstopper in a purple heavily embellished lehenga. Moreover, the
designer derives inspiration from the picturesque beauty of Benares, Kashi
and Varanasi.

Ritu Kumar has unveiled their latest fashion collection, “Structured Pastoral‟ at
day 3 of Lakmé Fashion Week 2019.Tara Sutaria turns gorgeous showstopper for
Ritu Kumar . Further, she walks in a gorgeous fringed dress with thigh-high boots.
Moreover, the collection has colours from pastoral and equestrian mood, burnt reds
and blacks dominate the palette.

 NACHIKET BARVE COLLECTION
Nachiket Barve‟s “Passport Princesses” was presented in collaboration with
Caprese handbags at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2019.Caprese –
the perfect handbag accessory.Inspired by a pristine little island off the
Italian shores. A country that has, for centuries, been synonymous with the
future of women‟s fashion, Caprese takes its inspiration from its free
spiritedness. With a confident aesthetic sense, sleek cuts and an indulgent
voice to suit any occasion – Caprese‟s every design is crafted as a style
testament to every woman who wishes to announce her arrival in life.Rakul

Designer Arpita Mehta will present her winter/ festive collection
“Trentradition” at day 4 of Lakme Fashion Week 2019 for a modern bridal
showcase.Arpita Mehta will present a collection of traditional and bridal
wear on the runway at Lakme Fashion Week. For Trentradition, Mehta will
present a modern take on classic bridal wear by incorporating new motifs
and a new signature floral print.Ananya Pandey makes a debut at Lakme
Fashion Week Winter Festive 2019 as the showstopper for Arpita Mehta.

Ananya Panday marks her debut as the showstopper for Anushree Reddy'bridal
collection at day 4 of Lakme Fashion Week Winter Festive 2019. Further, the
starlet struts the runway in a heavily embellished ivory lehenga rounded out
with a statement emerald choker necklace and soft smokey eyes.

DAY 5:-AT LAKME FASHION WEEK

 KUNAL RAVAL COLLECTION


Designer Kunal Rawal, launched his latest collection “Confluence” at day 5 of the
Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2019. Rawal‟s collection, dominated by
black colour, comprised outfits that were comfortable and multi-purpose. The
layered kurta trousers, suits, blazers, shirts and sherwanis were given fuller looks
by using embroideries. Arjun Kapoor was the showstopper for his friend Rawal
wearing a charcoal black suit with unusual hem line, black glossy oxford and
sporting short haircut.

COLLECTION
Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna made a comeback at Lakmé Fashion Week
Winter/Festive 2019 after 15 years in association with NEXA. Known for
their global sensibilities, impeccable cuts, the designers put forth their
collection „Interstellar‟ which embodies NEXA‟s characteristics of
reliability and innovation. Disha Patani And Ayushmann Khurrana walked
the ramp as the showstopper for Rohit Gandhi & Rahul Khanna in an
embellished gown and embellished jacket.

Malaika Arora walked the ramp for designers Divya and Rajvvir on day 5 of
Lakme Fashion Week 2019 .Malaika Arora looked sultry in a high-slit wine-
coloured skirt and ruffled sleeved blouse with a plunging neckline. The rose motif
accentuated the ensemble.

Punit Balana ensures that the theme of his collections always revolve around
glamour. For Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2019 Punit‟s collection called
“Rabari” was an ode to textiles and amazing embroidery created by the Rabari
women. Shilpa Shetty was the showstopper of Punit Balana‟s collection show

Fashion designer Disha Patil‟s bridal and occasion wear had the ultimate
luxurious appeal with timeless elegance for her “The Interpretation of
Love” collection at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive (LFW W/F) 2019.
The ensembles were ideal for all the bridal festivities starting from the Roka
to the Mehndi, Sangeet, Saat Pheras and Reception. Kangana Ranaut
walked the ramp in a grey ghagra with gold embellishments and a dupatta-
esque top on day five of the Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2019.
The actor turned showstopper for designer Disha Patil‟s couture collection.
Kangana also did a little dance with Disha at the end of her ramp walk.

Kaveri showcased a feminine yet rustic collection on the runway at day 5 of


Lakme Fashion Week winter/feastive and Bollywood actress Shabana Azmi
walked as the brand‟s showstopper for the winter/ festive season 2019.

 GAURI AND NAINIKA COLLECTION
Kareena Kapoor Khan stuns in black Gauri and Nainika gown at Lakme
Fashion Week 2019 Grand Finale. Kareena Kapoor Khan was the showstopper
for designer duo Gauri and Nainika at the last day of LFW. The actress walked
the ramp in a black off shoulder satin gown, layered with silk tulle, Her hair was
slicked back and she wore a burgundy lipstick. According to Mid-Day, the
collection called #FreeYourLips, aimed to promote freedom of expression.

Soha Ali Khan walks the ramp for designer Kavita Agarwal at the Lakme
Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2019 Finale day .Royalty was redefined when
Soha Ali Khan dressed in Kavita Aggarwal‟s beige set of lehenga choli with
an embellished dupatta walked the ramp on day 5 of Lakme Fashion Week.
Kavita Aggarwal designed a celebratory and a royal yet subtle collection of
lehengas, marked with toned colours of beige, golden and green.

With „BANJI‟ at Lakme Fashion Week, Saroj Jalan introduced a new dimension to
her winter 2019 collection by recreating the bridal couture collection for today‟s
modern Indian free- spirited yet rooted bride.„BANJI‟ collection exudes warmth
and elegance along with capturing the romance of silhouette to exuberate the free
flowing spirit of modern Indian bride. The power to experiment, to have fun, be
free-spirited yet remain stylish. Genelia walked for designer Saroj Jalan at the
Lakme Fashion Week wearing a maroon embroidered lehenga. Silver jewelry and
wavy hair rounded out her look!

 MASUMI MEWAWALLA COLLECTION

Gorgeous Actress Urvashi Rautela graced the ramp for Mumbai based
Label Pink Peacock Couture by Masumi Mewawalla on the final day at Lakme
Fashion Week Winter Festive 2019.
The collection themed „Ardor‟ is inspired by the symmetrical and geometric
motifs of the Art Deco and Art Nouveau styles. Soft colors like whites, rose pinks,
rust and olives lend the collection a dreamy feel that is enhanced by embroidered
motifs like soft, delicate flowers.

CONCLUSION

Lakmé Fashion Week is jointly organized by Lakmé, the number one cosmetics
and beauty services brand in India and IMG Reliance Ltd., leader in sports, fashion
and entertainment marketing and management. Lakmé Fashion Week has been
conceived and created with a vision to "Redefine the future of fashion and integrate
India into the global fashion world." Lakmé Fashion Week is organized twice
every year.

The opening of the Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) 2019 was done by Katrina Kaif,
who turned showstopper for fashion designer Manish Malhotra‟s show.On the
second day, the ramp was set on fire by Shibani Dandekar, Farhan Akhtar, Lisa
Haydon, Hardik Pandya and Esha Gupta.In all, the whole week was a star studded
performance and was graced by many Bollywood celebrities. The closing was
done by Kareena Kapoor who looked absolutely stunning.
