Death Penalty

The death penalty is an extremely complex topic that polarizes opinions

and touches upon some sensitive moral issues. Capital punishment, which once was a
widely spread sentence in the judiciary system, in the 21st century occurs only in 56
of the countries. Most of the countries have abolished this type of punishment,
replaced with life imprisonment as the highest possible measure. This is a topic of
high importance that involves numerous aspects and is very difficult to come to terms
with by its nature. What is Death Penalty? Is Death Penalty morally justified? Is it a
violation of an offender’s life? Death Penalty, also known as the Capital Punishment,
is a government-sanctioned practice whereby a person is killed by the state as a
punishment for a crime. Death Penalty is not a violation of an offender’s right to life,
as the offender has forfeited the right, and then the death penalty is then justifiable as
a morally permissible way to treat murderers in order to effect some good for society.

Premise 1
Death penalty as Deterrence

In my opinion, I supported death penalty not because I feel that capital

punishment should be handed or dished out to everyone that commits crime No, I’m
talking about the idea that capital punishment is deterrent, it influences the way
people behave. Capital Punishment is likely to deter more than other punishments
because people fear death more than anything else. They fear most death deliberately
inflicted by law and scheduled by courts. Hence, the threat of the death penalty may
deter some murderers who other wise might not have been deterred. And surely the
death penalty is the only penalty that could deter prisoners already serving a life
sentence and tempted to kill the guard, or offender’s about to be arrested and facing a
life sentence.

Premise 2
Death Penalty serves as Justice
Death Penalty is morally justified because it symbolizes Justice and is
the only way to adequately express society’s revulsion of the murder of innocent lives.
It serve as justice, specially for those family who suffered greatly because of the
heinous crime the murderer(s) did to their loved ones.

Premise 3
Death Penalty serve as Closure to the Victim’s Families

The execution of a criminal is the best way to provide closure to the

family of their victim. They can now finally put the crime behind them and move on,
knowing that there is no possibility of the person who took away their loved one’s life
leaving a prison and walking free.

They said that killing is wrong and that taking a human’s life is
unethical, whether it is a crime or whether it is done in the name of justice, but for me
it’s okay and I truly support it because what if someone has done harm to your family?
I’m sure your opinion would change. Wouldn’t you want to give justice specially to
those young ones who were molested, raped, and brutally killed? Would you just let it
slide? I’m sure you won’t, you will seek for justice and wants to press charges to the
suspect because everyone has a revengeful side. For most people, life is sacred and
innocent lives should be valued over the lives of killers. Innocent’s victim who have
been murdered and in some cases, tortured before hand had no choice in their
untimely and cruel death or any opportunity to say goodbye to their friends and family,
prepare wills, or enjoy the rest of their life. Meanwhile, convicted murderers
sentenced to life in prison are still able to learn, read, and write. They were feed using
the taxes that the people are paying.

In my opinion, I supported death penalty not because I feel that

capital punishment should be handed or dished out to everyone that commits crime
No, I’m talking about the idea that capital punishment is deterrent, it influences the
way people behave. It happened many times where they releases people constantly
and they’re still doing the same thing.

They said people deserves a second chance, I do believe that there are
people who deserves a second chance but it just depends on what kind of crime they
are committing. If they killed somebody, I don’t believe that they deserve it
Unless you’ve really experienced something like that you won’t know
yourself really. You only know what you feel right now, but unless you were in that
motion were it did happen
