Methods Spain and Portugal used to build their Empire

By: Dorothy Mae Jadraque and Wayne Michael Camerino

-Trading
 In 1580 with the Iberian Union they interconnected most of the world with their economic prowess.
 Portugal had a really large global empire with lots of trade; Spain had a large global empire with lots of trade.
 Mostly traded with China, which was a very modern nation at the time and the war-like people of Japan.

-Religion
 They spread Catholicism like wildfire.
 Used some of the wealth they gained through exploration to fight against Islam.

-Colonization
 They were the first nation to begin colonizing the world wherever they went.
 Spain was conspicuous of their weapons, which in turn devastatingly affected their population.
 Conquistadors found Gold, Treasures, Chocolate, Slaves and more.
 Because of their growing influence and wealth they unwillingly inspired other countries to enter the next “age of
civilization”
