What do we mean by methods of philosophizing?

- Methods of philosophizing refer to various procedural ways on doing philosophy.
- At its core, methods of philosophizing refer to epistemology or the branch of philosophy that
deals with the nature and the various way we can attain knowledge or the truth.

What are some of the examples of methods of philosophizing?

- Some of these methods are the following:

1. Socratic Method
2. Critical Analysis/Interpretation (the use of philosophical lenses to critically examine a text)
3. Rationalism
4. Empiricism
5. Methodic Doubt

What is the difference between a philosophical lens and a method of philosophizing (ie. Socratic
Method)?

- A philosophical lens offers a substantive insight or reading of a text while a method of

philosophizing gives us the procedures or steps by steps guide on doing philosophy. In short, a
philosophical lens is SUBSTANTIVE while a method of philosophizing is PROCEDURAL.

universality or relativity of morality. In other words, what are the rationalist and empiricist
perspectives on the nature, basis or universality/relativity of morality? How do these differents
methods of philosophizing give us diverging insights on the topic of morality?
