Ensure compliance by all parties to this procedure, the Quality Assurance


Manual, QC Inspection Plan and relevant customer Specifications,
Drawings and Industry Codes.

6.2 Constructions Manager


He will be the overall responsible for preparatory activities. He has to
ensure compliance by all craftsmen to the content of this procedure, QA
Manual, Inspection Plan and Customer Specifications.

6.3 Civil Supervisor


Ensure compliance by all workers and other associated craftsmen to the
requirements of this procedure and relevant specifications and QC
Inspection requirements.

6.4 Quality Control Inspector


Conduct inspection in accordance with this procedure and the Project
Quality Control Inspection Plan.

6.5 Safety Supervisor


Confirm all safety requirements have been adequately addressed. Provide
one trained safety representative with the necessary safety equipment at
the location of excavation. Confirm availability of permit to work

7. PROCEDURE

7.1 Before Work Starts

7.1.1 Conduct Safety Toolbox and Inspection meeting and discussed the job
safety requirements for excavation work with entire crew.

7.1.2 It shall be noted that all machines, tools and materials including
manpower are available on site prior to starting the excavation work.

7.1.3 A competent charge hand or Foreman shall be appointed as responsible


for the booster pump foundation excavation.

7.1.4 Safety officer shall also be assigned to ensure all necessary safety
requirements are met prior to start of the excavation activities.

7.1.5 Barricades and warning signs shall be erected around the work area to
restrict personnel movement.

8. WORK PERMITS

8.1 Work permit will be obtained prior to start of any work; type of permit to be
drawn shall be in compliance to G.I. 2.100

8.2 The receiver of the permit shall keep the permit on the site; the permit
receiver shall be onsite at all times or temporarily delegate a qualified
alternate to serve in his absence with the approval of the issuer.

8.3 The issued work permit will be displayed on site for the duration of the
job.

8.4 When the job is completed or at the end of the shift, each work permit will
be closed out or it can be extended when required.

8.5 All issued work permits will be kept in to the file for the duration specified
in G.I. 2.100.

9. HOUSEKEEPING

9.1 Housekeeping will be maintained on the site.

9.2 Each worker is responsible for ensuring that their working areas are kept
tidy and housekeeping activity will be imposed.

9.3 Under no circumstance will accumulation of combustible rubbish be


allowed at work site.

10. CRANE AND HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATORS AND RIGGERS

10.1 All crane and Heavy Equipment Operators that will be assigned on site
shall have the following:
a) Valid Saudi Arabian Government License

b) Valid Saudi Aramco Certification for the Specific equipment he will


operate
c) Valid Iqama and Saudi Aramco I.D.

10.2 Rigger that will be assigned on site shall have the following:
a) Valid Saudi Aramco Certification for Rigger
b) Valid Iqama and Saudi Aramco I.D.

10.3 Crane Equipment shall have the following:


a) Valid Inspection Sticker
b) Equipment with Spark arrester

11. SAFETY

11.1 All work shall be strict compliance with G.I. 2.100, Work Permit System.

11.2 Conduct safety toolbox meeting and discussed the safety for excavation
prior to start the work, all requirement of G.I.-0002.102 is fulfilled.

11.3 All equipment (Crane, Water Pump, Air Compressor, etc.) shall be
properly grounded.

11.4 Crane Lifting and operations shall be in compliance with G.I. 7.028 and
G.I. 7.029.Use only designated lift lugs for lifting.

11.5 Adequate and ready to use fire extinguisher must be available on site.

11.6 Unauthorized person is not allowed to enter the barricaded excavation


area.

12. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

12.1 All personnel shall wear their issued personal protective equipment (PPE)
in the job site.

12.2 Work clothes shall be of good fit with no loose flaps or strings, no loose
aprons, torn, ragged garments or neckties.

12.3 Hard hats must be worn at all times while on site.

12.4 Employees shall wear Safety glasses at all times while on site.

12.5 Employee shall wear Safety goggles or face shields as eye and face
protection whenever there is a danger of flying particles.

12.6 It is mandatory that all employees shall wear working gloves while
working on the job site and whenever there is a danger of damaging their
hands by handling rough surfaces or substances that could burn, cut or
tear.

12.7 All employees on the jobsite shall wear Safety footwear, boots or shoes
with steel toe cap protection.

13. HAZARDS OF DEEP EXCAVATION

13.1 Ensure proper ventilation is in place.


13.2 Only authorized personnel shall enter the excavation.
13.3 Qualified personnel shall test and monitor the atmosphere while
personnel are present.
13.4 Emergency rescue equipment shall be immediately available.
13.5 Ladders for access shall be provided.

14. EXCAVATION PROCEDURE

14.1 All U/G utilities and process lines shall be properly identified and
Concerned parties notified before starting any excavation works.

14.2 Install Guardrails or barricade the area as necessary.

14.3 Provide blinking warning lights at the excavation area at night


when there is personnel movement.

14.4 Remove asphalt on the entire location of booster pump foundation.

14.5 Provide excavation sectional area to have a minimum of 500mm space


around outside the 42" pipe casing to provide enough space for layer by
layer backfilling, compaction & compaction testing.

14.6 Hand excavates the six (6) meters deep for the booster pump 42” pipe
sleeve. Spoil piles/excavated materials shall be at least 0.6 meter (2 ft.)
from the edge of excavation.

14.7 Standby man will be station to keep an eye of the worker while excavation is
on-going.

14.8 Workers also will be stationed to pull the rope with bucket on the other end
to collect the excavated material.

14.9 Two workers will do the excavation and shift other workers every two (3)
hours.

14.10 Use of steel pick, shovel and jack hammer to accomplish the required 6
meters deep excavation. Heavy equipment shall not be operated within
1.8 meters (6 ft.) of any excavation.

14.11 Qualified person shall make daily inspections of excavations prior to the
start of the work shift (if any).

14.12 Shoring shall be provided whenever required as the excavation


progressing.

15. BOOSTER PUMP 42” PIPE CASING INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

15.1 Pour 1167 X 1167 X 50 mm thick lean concrete at the location of


Booster pump 42” pipe casing bottom elevations.

15.2 Allow curing of lean concrete.

15.3 Install, align and inspection of booster pump 42” pipe casing.

16. BACKFILLING and COMPACTION PROCEDURE

16.1 Fill materials shall be sand dune to protect the booster pump 42”
pipe casing which was externally FBE or APCS-113A coated.
16.2 Water shall be used for compaction by flooding the fill materials for
every200 mm in loose lift. The water used for compaction shall be free of
salts, oil, acid, organic matter or other deleterious substances.
16.3 Compaction test shall be taken as required by standard SAES-A-114.

16.4 Backfilling of sand dune every 200 mm in loose lift and compaction by
water flooding shall be repeated up to the required bottom level of booster
pump concrete foundation.
16.5 Sand dune fill material & water compaction shall be provided for in
accordance with SAES-A-114.
16.6 Fill material shall be placed in lifts not exceeding 200 mm (8 in) in loose
depth. Fill materials shall be placed in lifts not exceeding 100 mm (4 in) in
loose depth for hand-operated compaction. Other lift thicknesses may be
approved by the appropriate Saudi Aramco Inspection Representative
based on a field test section using the intended compaction equipment.
16.7 As a minimum, at least one in-place density test must be performed
on every lift of fill and further placement shall not be allowed until
the required density has been achieved.
