NARRATIVE REPORT OF THE 3-DAY DIVISION TRAINING-


WORKSHOP ON ROBOTICS

The Training Workshop on Robotics held on July 29-31, 2019 at Angeles City Science
High School aims to train Selected Public Elementary and Secondary Science School Teachers
and Students on the Principles of Robotics, reinforce students’ skills and competencies in
problem solving and in critical and creative way, and to prepare the students for the upcoming
National Robotics Competition to be held on September 19-21 at the Lyceum of the Philippines.
The training was headed by Mrs. Gemima Estrabillo, EPS in Science and Guest Speakers
from Pinoy Robot Games with founder Mr. Melvin Matulac. During the first day, the trainers
gave introduction about robotics and the software to be used. They also let the students and
teachers to be familiarized with different parts of the robots, tested if all parts are working,
calibrate the sensors and assembled the robots. Trainers gave sample programs to be tested on
the robots.
During the second day, trainers let the students to make their own programs and
challenged them to make different functions of the robots: proximity sensor with indicator lights,
ambulance robot, obstacle avoiding robot, and line follower robot. Third day was the mini
competition for both students and teachers, trainers gave a challenge for the teachers to make a
program with lights changing when robot detected a black line and sound a tone after detecting
three black lines and a combination of line follower and obstacle avoiding for students. Students
of F.G.N.M.H.S won the first place for High School Category. The training ended with the
awarding of treats for the winners and turnover of robots for the participating schools.
F.G.N.M.H.S received three 12-in-1 robot kits.
