COMPETENCY-BASED CURICULUM

A. Course Design

Course Title : Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC-II


Nominal Duration : 196 hours
Qualification Level : NC-II

Course Description : This course is designed to equip individuals


with operational skills in Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC-II,
particularly in installing and maintaining electrical wiring, lighting and
related equipment/ systems in residential houses/ buildings where the
voltage not exceed 600 volts.

SUMMARY OF LEARNING OUTCOMES:

At the end of the course, trainee must be able to:

1. Participate in workplace communication

4. Practice occupational health and safety procedures
5. Use hand tools
6. Perform mensuration and calculation
7. Prepare and interpret technical drawing
8. Apply quality standards
9. Terminate and connect electrical wiring and electronic circuits
10. Perform roughing-in activities, wiring and cabling works for single-
phase distribution, power, lighting and auxiliary system.
11. Install electrical protective devices for distribution, power, lighting,
auxiliary, lighting protection and grounding system.
12. Install wiring device of floor and wall mounted outlets, lighting
fixtures/switches, and auxiliary outlet
TRAINEE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

This section specifies the qualifications of trainees including their


education/experience. To qualify as trainee for Electrical Installation &
Maintenance NC II, a candidate:

 Must have completed at least 10 yrs. basic education or an


ALS certificate of achievement with grade 10 equivalent
holder
 Must be able to communicate both orally and in writing
 Must be able to perform basic mathematical computation

QUALIFICATION OF TRAINER:

To qualify as trainer for Electrical Installation & Maintenance NC II level, a


person must:

 Be a holder of NTTC I in Electrical Installation & Maintenance NC


II (or higher).
• Have at least 2-years relevant industry experience and/or teaching
experience.
