I. Introduction

Background of the Study

Library is a curated collection of sources of information and similar

resources, selected by experts and made accessible to a defined
community for reference or borrowing. It provides physical or digital
access to material, and may be a physical location or a virtual space, or
both. Libraries range widely in size up to millions of items. It is organized for
use and maintained by a public body, an institution, a corporation, or a
private individual. In addition to providing materials, libraries also provide
the services of librarians who are experts at finding and organizing
information and at interpreting information needs. Libraries often provide
quiet areas for studying, and they also often offer common areas to
facilitate group study and collaboration. Libraries often provide public
facilities for access to their electronic resources and the Internet.

The mission of academic libraries is to create a learning

environment in which faculty and students are provided with a variety of
library resources and ultimately, become competent users. However, the
assessment of the use of resources in each academic institution is very
complicated. Administrators as well as the library need to know whether
students do make use of the resources of the library and whether the use
of these resources genuinely helps students with their assignments. Finally,
they need to identify the factors that affect this use. This research
information could be the a reliable basis for administrators and library to
take the optimum measures of a broader and more effective use of
library resources.

A lot of student nowadays, do not prefer going to the school library

because of a lot reasons. One could say that he did not prefer going to
the school library because noises could be heard from the inside. Others
could say that the books are disorganized or did not have internet on the
computer. These are the things that this paper is focused on. Bringing out
these issues to the library faculty of MPSPC- Tadian campus would
eventually help improve their services and facilities.

Conceptual Framework

Student often do not go to libraries due to certain factors which

affects them of their motives in the place. This study aims to determine
what are these factors that affect the students library use in terms of
services and facilities for our school library improvement.

This data-gathering method then will be done through

administering a checklist type of questionnaire.
