Splice Grafting

It is a method of grafting by cutting the ends of the scion and stock completely across
and obliquely, in such a manner that the sections are of the same shape, then lapping
the ends so that the one cut surface exactly fits the other, and securing them by tying or
otherwise.

The splice graft is similar to the whip-and-tongue graft except the second
tongue cut is not made.

A simple slanting cut of the same length is made in both the scion and
rootstock.

It is a common graft used for vegetable crops that use robotic grafting of a
scion on a disease resistant rootstock.
