That Sugar Film
The movie was intriguing and very thought-provoking but I would not take
everything that it says and suggests at face value. The concept of the dangers of
hidden sugar in our foods and drinks is pretty interesting and the delivery of the
movie is incredibly funny yet it still has some caveats to it. His approach to it, on
the other hand, is kind of questionable since I would not consider his eating habits
during the experiment of being healthy. He tends to go overboard with his
exaggerations during some parts of the movie too. Still, this is a great movie and I
would still recommend this to my friends.
So with that, I will now go to discuss the things that I personally agree with in the
film. For starters, I agree that the sugar content of the food products available in
the market today is outrageous and that we are not mostly aware of this. Also
that with how much we’ve gotten used to the sweetness overload in our culture,
it’s easy for vegetables to be hated or to not be eaten often with me being one of
the exceptions since I like eating vegetables. I also agree about the idea this gives
about diet, that it does not involve decreasing or lessening the amount of food
you eat but rather changing the components of what you’re eating to healthy
foods. It was also nice that they noted that exercise helps with your diet and that
they said it can be minimal.
My criticisms on this movie, on the other hand, are numerous too but I’ll just give
some of them. First, most of the experts who spoke in the duration of the film
have little background shown during the entire movie, given that their opinions
are crucial to the movie’s train of thought, which makes me unsure of their
credibility. Second, the amount of food he ate every day for the duration of this
experiment was mostly pure guesswork since it is impossible to determine the
exact amount of food that is being eaten. Third, what happened to the lead actor
during his experiment with regards to his health and it being related to the sugar
intake he is subjecting himself is not in itself valid since there are other factors to
consider too. And last, I felt that his recommendation at the end of the movie was
lacking because nothing was said about how much sugar should be lessened in
our daily diet.
Finally,
