The document discusses climate change and the greenhouse effect. It explains that greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and methane absorb sunlight and trap heat, increasing Earth's temperature. This is causing problems like rising sea levels, ocean acidification, and threats to biodiversity. The main greenhouse gases are water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and chlorofluorocarbons. Greenhouse gases are necessary to keep Earth warm enough to support life, but too many are disrupting the climate.

GREEN HOUSE EFFECTS AND ITS IMPACT
Green house effect is a process in which the sunrays are
absorbed by the environment by the given house gases like carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide etc. This process keeps the temperature of earth balanced. But due to the increment of these green house gases, the gases are increasing. It absorbs more sun rays and increases the temperature. There are various dangerous effects like climate change ocean acidification, threat to biodiversity etc. The glaciers are melting which increase the sea level and have creating a threat of floods and tsunami. The main reason of green house effect is the green house gases. For preventing this effect we should have a control over these gases Green house gases Gases that contribute to the green house effect by absorbing infrared radiation are the green house gases. 90% of the heat is absorbed by these gases. Some primary green house gases are: 1.water vapour 2. Carbon dioxide 3. Methane 4. Nitrous oxide 5. chlorofluro-carbons. Only because of these gases life is possible on the earth. It maintains the temperature of earth. If these gases are not present in our environment then our earth temperature would be like to moon where day temperature is -100degree Celsius at day and -153degree Celsius at night where life is not possible at all. The green house gases are act as a blanket for our earth. These are different from other gases because their molecules are keep on oscillation that is why only these gases absorb thermal energy. Global warming and climate change Global warming is a continuously increasing environment issue all over the world. Actually global warming is a global increase in the temperature of the earth because of our some daily activities. Our various activities heats up the earth which ultimately rises its temperature. Rise in temperature takes place s when green house gases trap heat and light from our surrounding and sun. Ultimately rise in temperature hurts the lives of human being, animals and plants. Green house effect is cause by the green house gases. Global warming refers to the upward temperature trends across the entire earth since the early 20th century and most notably since the late 1970s due to the increase in fossil fuels emissions since the industrial revolution. Worldwide since 1880s the average surface temperature has gone up by 0.8degree Celsius relating to the mid 20th century baseline. The Paris agreement entered into force on 4th November 2016 30 days after date on which at least 55 parties to the convention accounting in total for at least an estimated 55% of the total global green house gases emission have deposited their instruments of ratification, acceptance, approval or accession with the depositary. Acid rain Acid rain refers to phenomenon in which ph of rain is decreased and therefore being turned into acidic by mixing with sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides. It is caused by burning of fossil fuels in industry, transport, homes and power station. It also happens naturally by lightning and volcanic eruption. It reduces calcium and magnesium component from soil thus reduce its fertility. It harms aquatic life. Many fishes die due to acid rain it not only cause extinction of fishes but also disturbed our ecosystem by not providing food to other organisms. It destroys plants and animals and contaminates drinking water. It causes many types of health problem in human. It causes skin problem like rashes, skin cancer and repertory problem like bronchitis, asthma and pneumonia. We can put a check on it using fossil fuel judiciously, by fitting scrubbers in factory chimneys. By using electronic material like air conditioner and computers which emit such gases wisely we can control it. Ozone layers depletion Many of human activities are badly affecting the atmosphere. Approximately 90% ozone is act as shield which present in the stratosphere and remaining 10% are present in troposphere. The ozone layer is measure in Dobson unit. The term ozone hole is applied when the depletion level is below 300dobson unit. Causes of ozone depletion: 1. Chlorofluorocarbons are the main causes of ozone depletion. 2. Unregulated launches of rockets is second major cause. 3. Nitrogenous compounds emitted by human activities in a small amount like NO, N2O and NO2 are considering greatly depletion of ozone layer. Due to ozone layer depletion many human diseases are spread such as blindness, skin cancer, genetic mutations etc. The Montreal Protocols on the substances that deplete the ozone layer is an international treaty design to protect the ozone layer by phasing out the production of numerous substances that are responsible for ozone depletion.
