Design of 1 DROP :

M.F.L. at section O - O i.e., D/S side of the drop = 503.281 m

Crest level of the drop GL a@ 25.00 m U/S of crossing = 502.433 m

Discharge over the drop under drowned weir condition:

Q = Q1 + Q2
Q1 = 2/3 Cd1 √(2g) B h3/2
Q2 = Cd2 √(2gh) B h1
Q = 2/3 C d1 √(2g) B h 3/2 + C d2 √(2gh) B h 1

Discharge over the drop under free weir condition:

Q = Q1
Q = 2/3 Cd1 √(2g) B h3/2

Page 20 of 105
In this case since the M.F.L. at section O - O is more than the crest level at section P - P, the drop
should be designed as drowned weir condition.
Discharge required over weir = 22.54 Cumecs
Cd1 = 0.577

There fore the discharge over the weir

Since the discharge provided over the crest is more than the

proportined that the clear span between the lateral restrains does not exceed 60b or

Design of slab:
clear span = 8.1 m

effective span = clear span + effective depth or
c/c of supports
thickness of slab = 500 mm
clear cover = 40 mm
dia of reinforcement proposed = 20 mm
