CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
Coffee shops and tea houses are the most common places people go to nowadays. When it
comes to social gatherings and business meetings, people would prefer to converse while enjoying
light snacks and indulge in sweet beverages rather than devouring heavy meals. These places has
become in demand because of the need of meetup places that offers a variety of drinks and snacks
that enables customers to relax, enjoy, focus and have meaningful conversations.
Chikape is a coffee shop that promotes fun and meaningful conversations and interactions
with its customers. This establishment has a wide variety of menus and drinks that is perfect for
any occasion. Chikape is a combination of ‘Chika’ meaning it encourages chats among our
customers and ‘Kape’ meaning it offers coffee that will definitely suit the taste of everyone.
In a line of business that is very common in the community, what will make a coffee shop
stand out among the rest of its competitors is the service, variety, taste and ambiance. Chikape is
potentially a rising industry and can deal with mainstream coffee shops because the business
focuses on the interactions that the people can do within the premises of the place and that is what

This chapter discusses the background of the business and also its logo, mission and vision, and a
Chikape was established in January 2019 at 345 Susano Rd, Novaliches, Quezon City with
the collaboration of 5 of its owners Christine Libot, Jelaiza Amador, Myra Marasigan, Regin
Aleluya and Ruben Ingco II. The idea of the business is to become a ‘tambayan’ or place to hangout
for customers to have chats and small talks because the business owners themselves love to
hangout and would love to have a place of their own. Since coffee shops are in trend, they also
incorporated the idea to come up a menu that is based in their own preferences. These type of
business is easy to market because of the high demand for coffee. The business proprietors decided
to invest in a coffee shop because aside from it being in high demand, it is also a product of their
Chikape offers in its menu a variety of beverages such as different blend of coffee, frappes,
lattes, espressos, and other non-coffee based beverages that is either cold or hot brewed made with
one of the owners of the business, Ruben Ingco II, he is the barista of the shop. They also offer
cakes and pastry that goes well with the drinks such as cheesecakes, chocolate cakes, pies, tarts
and many more desserts. Handcrafted by one of the owner, Myra Marasigan who served as the
shop’s chef and baker. The rest of the team are focused on the management of the business,
Christine Libot serves as the Manager and she makes sure that quality service are given to the

guest while Jelaiza Amador and Regin Aleluya takes care of the finances and supplies of the
business.
Chikape is an antique theme coffee shop which feature old fashioned fixtures and furniture
with the ambiance of the enticing aroma of coffee. Large set of tables and couches allows the
customer to comfortably settle in the coffee shop and it can accommodate even large group of
friends and family who wish to gather inside the establishment. The machineries, menu, utensils
and training are powered and sponsored by blue coffee, a third-party franchise that enables their
franchisee to brand their own business and provide everything that they need including the training
The owners of the business works hand in hand to operate the business and makes sure that
they generate enough income to keep the business alive and also works as a team in working in
Chikape aims to promote union and socialization among its guest while providing quality
service, food and beverages. The goal of the business is to provide a satisfying experience to its
customers by giving them a place to hang out and chat while enjoying their food and drinks.
Chikape envisions a business that will exceed and break the stereotypes of coffee shops
being a still and quiet place of relaxation. Thus, the business promotes a fun and lively atmosphere
that will also make the guest relaxed in a way that they bond with their families and friends.
