    Every night, the house was filled with unfamiliar sounds like humming lullabies. The eldest sister would wake finding herself and room covered in disgusting substances. The domestic helpers also mysteriously died.

    She revealed how the mother was mistreated by being poorly fed, burned in hot baths, and detained in a filthy room. The family photos were also scratched except for Ruth.

    The film starts with Nilo, the eldest among the siblings with his two sisters Denise who brought
    with her own daughter named Janelle and Sylvia, their beautiful sister. Also with Angel, their happy go
    luck brother who had an affair with the caretaker’s daughter, Ester and of course their mentally
    retarded youngest sister, Ruth. Nilo and his siblings were separated with each other appear to have a
    little contact with each other for years because they are all scattered around the world. They leave
    their mother into the mansion with a local family which serves as their domestic helper for years. And
    now, the siblings arrived at their childhood mansion because of the death of their Mother. They bury
    their Mother and decided to observe a nine day prayer after the burial or the Novena.

    Complication/Rising Action
    While the siblings are doing the first day of novena, weird things happened inside the house.
    Every night, the house is filled with unfamiliar sounds, sometimes humming a lullaby song. The eldest
    sister twice wakes in the morning finding herself and entire room covered with a disgusting mix of
    urine, feces, vomit and rotting food. These weird things are continuously happening inside the house.
    Another thing is, the local family who serve as their domestic helper for years leave the house, and
    what happened? They are all mysteriously die. Until Nilo started to investigate how their mother die …
    was she murdered? By whom?

    Climax
    The tension begins when revelations are mad by an old lady who has the capability to recall the
    past events happened in someone’s life. This old lady or the “spiritista” helped the siblings who are
    experiencing weird things inside the house and what does their mother want to imply to her children.
    One of the revelations made is their family album wherein all of their pictures except Ruth were
    scratched. Next revelation is when they found out that their trusted priest had link with their mother
    and Ruth is their child. Another is when the old lady bring the siblings into an abandoned room and
    tell them the things happened into their mother, how miserable her life is when they left her into the
    local family and just send money to the caretakers for the needs of their youngest sister and their
    mother.

    Their mother experienced a miserable life inside the house. The family used to feed her in an
    improper manner. They used to take her in bath filled with hot water and let her drown in the
    bathtub. And worst, they detained her in a room wherein her pee and her feces are all scattered in the
    entire room. She used to cry every night and bump her head into a piece of wood which causes her
    head to bleed. Then this old lady revealed that the answer to their questions (Why did they mother
    died? Who killed her?) can be seen in a wall. Then another revelation made which makes the siblings
    think vaguely, they now discovered this wall covered with papers. And as they remove all the papers,
    they all see their names written on that wall.
    Because of the eagerness to know the truth clearly, the siblings together with the old lady
    decided to call their Mother’s soul on the 9 th day of the Novena (Pa-siyam). And successfully! They’ve
    called their Mother’s soul. How she died and who killed her revealed.

    Falling Action/Reversal
    The siblings got emotional on the big revelation made by their mother. On how she suffered, how
    she mistreated by the local family they’ve used to trust for years, and who killed her. And now, she
    revealed that her children are the one’s who killed her, killed her emotionally. The siblings had an
    unhappy childhood most especially Nilo, but the point is … they left her, they abandoned their own
    mother.

    Resolution/Denouement
    In the story, revenge was made by their mother. But that’s not the end, because it is now the
    last/9th day of her soul in the earth … the consequence of the abandonment made by her children is to
    take away their youngest sister, Ruth. Ruth had strangle which causes her to die. And now, Ruth and
    her Mother are now at peace.
