3. Distinguish the kinds of ecosystem in the environment.

4. Make a sample of an ecosystem.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Module 14 ECOSYSTEMS

Reference: Exploring and Protecting our World

Value Integration: Caring for the Ecosystems

Skills: Identifying, Distinguishing, Describing

Materials: books ,pictures, visual aids

Concept: ECOSYSTEMS

III. PROCEDURE

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES
Good Morning Class Good Morning Teacher

Let us pray All are praying…

A. Checking of attendance
Who are absent today? None Teacher

Very good no absent

B. Review

a short vedio presentation.

Okay class what have you notice about the vedio that Teacher I have seen river ,human ,trees
you have watch?

Very good, do have any idea about our topic for today? Teacher our topic for today is all about ecosystem.

Presentation of the Lesson

As you can see on the board, there is a word posted

here, everybody please read the word ‘’ECOSYSTEM’’. ECOSYSTEM

Now, what comes in to your mind when you hear the

word ECOSYSTEM? Write your answer on the board. The pupils will write their answers on the board.
Anyone? Plants, Animals, biotic, abiotic, etc…

Very Good!

Now let’s put it altogether what is an ecosystem? Ecosystem is a specific place where living things
(The teacher will guide the pupils in answering the interact with non-living things. It comes from the
question.) word ecological system or ecology from the Greek
word which means ‘’HOME’’.
ECOSYSTEM are communities of organism and nonliving
matter that interact together. Each part of ecosystem is
important because ecosystem interdependent.Damage
or imbalanced ecosystem can caused many problems.

Analysis and Discussion matter

Try to recall of what do you see in a river or sea or forest Cat, Dog, Humans, Chickens, frogs, snakes, fish, ants,
(or any ecosystem existing in the community)? garbage, fish ponds, grass land, etc.

Well done!

There are two components of an ecosystem;

1. Biotic Factors
2. Abiotic Factors

Biotic Factors are all organisms that live in an ecosystem Plants, animals, fish, whale, shark, dog, cat, humans,
or living things in short.Give me an example of biotic mouse, lizard, birds, etc…
factors.

Very good! Let’s give him/her a YES CLAP for all of us! (The Pupils will clap.)

Biotic components can be classified into three types

Such as:
1.PRODUCERS-produce their own energy w/o using
consuming other life form..
2.CONSUMERS- exist on the next level of food chain there
are three main types of consumers:
Herbivores feed on plant
Carnivores get their food by eating other carnivores and
herbivores
Omnivores can digest both plants and animals
Plants, animals, humans, etc…
3.Decomposer – dead organism and waste into non living
thing elements,example bacteria,fungi,

Abiotic Factors are all the non-living components of an

ecosystem.
Sunlight, Air, Water, Soil, Temperature, Minerals, and
Can you please give me an example of abiotic factors? others.

Excellent! Let’s give him/her a WHISTLE BOMB CLAP!

Generalization ECOSYSTEM is made up of living and non-living things

Now, who can tell us the summary of our lesson for today interacting with each other. And is derived from the
with the help of the graphic organizer? Greek word meaning HOME.
ECOSYSTEM has two componets abiotic and biotic
abiotic
C. POST ACTIVITIES

a. Group Activity

Ecosystem in a Bottle
(The pupils will be divided into two groups and
Divide the class into two groups, have each group perform the activity.
build their own "ecosystem" inside of a small container
such as a can or large glass jar. Identify the problems that
each Ecosystem may encounter. Let them report on the
Ecosystems that they made.
I find it very excited because all are actively
How do you find the activity class? participating and they enjoy the activity….

Yes teacher!
Why do you say so?
Have you learned the lesson?

b. Application
Yes teacher. Ecosystem is very important to us
Now that we have understood Ecosystem, do you think because it sustain our needs, the plants and animals
Ecosystem is important to us?Why? and other non-living things
that interact to living things in the environment.

c. Value Integration
If this is very important, how can we take care of our
ecosystem? By preserving our Ecosystem, not destroying any
Can you give me how can we take care our ecosystem? Ecosystems, etc…

Very well said..with the changes of our everyday lifestyle

we can help protect the planet and its ecosystem, reduce
or eliminate the use of household chemicals and
pesticides that can hurt the invironment..
