1 Introduction
1.1 About the document
The Software Change Notice describes the prerequisites, resolved PARs, applicable nodes, and
steps to install/uninstall the patch. Additionally, the SCN contains information about the change
impact and additional information for this patch. The latest version of this SCN is always
available on the Honeywell Process Solutions website.

1.2 About the patch

This patch addresses problems and offers improvements requested since the release of
Uniformance Process Studio R310.1. It can be applied to systems installed with Uniformance
Process Studio R310.1 or earlier releases. It can also be used to install Uniformance Process
Studio R310.2 on systems that have not previously had Uniformance Process Studio installed,
provided that the necessary prerequisites are available on the system. See Prerequisites for
more information.

1.3 Before you begin
1.3.1 Prerequisites
Most of the pre-requisites are included with the patch installation files and are installed
automatically if needed. There are two exceptions:

 Microsoft .Net Framework 4. This software should already be available on most systems
as it is installed with UPS R310.1. It is also available by default on Windows 7 and later
versions of Windows. Due to the size of this file it is not included with the patch. It can be
downloaded directly from the Microsoft website (dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe)

 Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5. This should also be available on most systems but can be
downloaded from Microsoft website if required (dotnetfx35.exe)

1.3.2 Obtaining and extracting the patch

The patch installation files are provided in a zip archive: ups_r310.2.zip.

Download the patch from (login required):

http://downloads.honeywellprocess.com/public/Support/HiSpec/ups_r310.2.zip

Copy this file to your computer and unzip it to a convenient location.

2 Patch installation
The installation procedure for UPS R310.2 is similar to UPS R310.1. Refer to the UPS R310.1
Installation Guide for details. However, please note the following differences from the UPS
R310.1 installation:

 HMIWeb Graphics Runtime option is no longer installed by default on Windows 7. You need
to explicitly select this feature using the custom installation option.

 HMIWeb Graphics Builder and Runtime option is no longer available on Window XP.

 If you install UPS R310.2 with the optional HMIWeb Graphics or HMIWeb Graphics Builder
features, the installer will automatically install a minimal version of Experion Station and
Display Builder. This provides the files that UPS requires for the HMIWeb Graphics options.
This also includes the files required for the UPS Graphics Migration feature, so it is not
necessary to install Experion Station and Display Builder before using the Experion to UPS
Graphics Migration tool.

If you have an existing version of Experion Station

installed on your UPS system then before upgrading to
UPS R310.2 you must first manually uninstall the
existing versions of UPS and Station. You should then
re-install Station before installing UPS R310.2.
This procedure is summarized in Section 2.1 below, and
in detail in Priority Notification PN2013-23.
PN2013-23 Experion Station functionality is negatively
impacted after the install or uninstall of UPS Graphics

2.1 Installing the patch interactively

The UPS R310.2 installer can be used to install UPS on a clean system, or to upgrade an
earlier version of UPS.

On UPS systems that do not have Experion Station installed, it is not necessary to uninstall
UPS before installing UPS R310.2.

If Experion Station is installed on the same machine as UPS then to upgrade to UPS R310.2
you must:

1. Manually uninstall UPS (see instructions below)

2. Manually uninstall Experion Station

Honeywell Process Solutions

1860 West Rose Garden Lane
Phoenix, AZ 85027 USA
3. Re-install Experion Station

4. Install UPS R310.2

Note: Existing UPS workspace content will be preserved when uninstalling/re-installing the
application.

To manually uninstall UPS R310.1 (not required unless Experion Station has been installed on
the same system)

1. Check that no copies of UPS or Microsoft Excel are running (otherwise a reboot may be
required and/or removal of Excel Companion may not succeed)

2. Open Control Panel > Programs and Features

3. Click on the Uniformance Process Studio Item

4. Click Change

5. When the installation dialog appears, click Next

6. Select Remove and click Next

7. Click Remove

Note: you may be prompted by Windows to confirm un-installation of each of the major UPS
components individually.

To install the UPS R310.2 patch interactively:

1. Click setup.exe from the installation files

2. Follow the steps described in UPS R310.1 Installation Guide. If you are applying this
patch to a system which previously had UPS R310.1 installed you will normally not need
to make any changes to the installation defaults.

3. If you wish to install HMIWeb Graphics Builder you must select it through the custom
install option as per UPS R310.1.

2.2 Installing the patch silently via script

This patch supports the same level of automated installation as the UPS R310.1 installation.

The following sections provide examples of the commands to silently install the typical set of
pre-requisites plus the individual UPS components required.

Honeywell Process Solutions

1860 West Rose Garden Lane
Phoenix, AZ 85027 USA
2.2.1 Common Pre-requisites
Installation pre-requisites are included in subfolders of the ISSetupPrerequisites folder from the
installation package files. The exceptions are Microsoft .Net 3.5 and 4 Framework packages,
which can be downloaded from the Microsoft website if required.

Note that not all the provided pre-requisites are listed. Some systems may require additional
files. Contact Support if you are having trouble identifying or installing other pre-requisites.

Install components as needed, in order listed.

2.3 Migrating existing configuration
Configuration of UPS R310.1 will be preserved when applying this R310.2 patch.

Configuration of previous UPS versions will also be preserved as per upgrades to UPS R310.1.

2.4 Troubleshooting issues during installation

Excel Companion cannot be uninstalled or re-installed if Microsoft Excel is running. If you see a
warning regarding Microsoft Excel when uninstalling UPS please check the computer’s process
list to ensure that Excel.exe is not running before proceeding.

2.5 Installing Experion Station after UPS

As mentioned in Section 2, UPS R310.2 installs a
minimal version of HMIWeb Station and Display Builder
automatically if the HMIWeb Graphics or Display Builder
features are installed. However you will need to install a
standard version of Experion Station and Display Builder
if you want to call up or build Experion displays.
Before installing a full version of Experion Station on the
UPS 310.2 system, you should first uninstall the existing
version of “HMIWeb Station and Display Builder” from
Control Panel > Programs and Features.

2.6 Post-Installation
It is recommended to reboot your system after
installation of Uniformance Process Studio.
This allows for shared and memory-resident
components which have been upgraded during UPS
installation, to be re-loaded.

3 Patch removal
This patch cannot be removed separately – it can only be removed via a full UPS uninstall (after
which UPS can be reinstalled, or another version can be installed)

To remove the patch, uninstall the component “Uniformance Process Studio” from Control
Panel > Programs and Features.
