SOLAS Chapter V, Regulation 19
Shipborne navigational equipment and systems

¾ All ships, irrespective of size, shall have :

Nautical charts and nautical publications to plan and

display the ship’s route for the intended voyage and to plot
and monitor positions throughout the voyage; an
electronic chart display and information system
(ECDIS) may be accepted as meeting the chart carriage
requirements of this subparagraph;
¾ Sesuai Adopsi Standar Tampilan ECDIS dan revisi SOLAS Bab V serta
sejak diadopsinya MSC 82 Desember 2006, perubahan dari 2000 High
Speed Craft (HSC) Code tentang mandatory ECDIS terhadap kapal-kapal
cepat pada tanggal 1 July 2008.
¾ Hasil kajian Formal Safety Assessment (FSA) keuntungan dari ECDIS dan
ENC dalam waktu jangka panjang:
z Penggunaan biaya yang efektif,
z Posisi lebih akurat,
z Mengurangi beban kerja di anjungan,
z Mengurangi kelelahan
z Memiliki kontribusi terhadap keselamtan navigasi dan perlindungan lingkungan
hidup.
¾ Jaminan IHO tentang ketersediaan ENC maka perberlakuan kewajiban

J A W A JAKARTA
As our vessel progresses, we may want to get advanced
information about navigational features that we will soon
be approaching. This is a picture of Fjäderholmarna
that we can call up from the navigation database.
Tidal information will also be of importance,
especially when approaching port or shallow water.

J A W A JAKARTA
The navigator must keep a record of vessels progress. When using a
paper chart, he records this information in a log book. The ECDIS
records this information automatically, and can display it at any time
during the passage.
