area, inMannar districts of Northern Province of Sri Lanka approximately
5km away from Mannar-Jaffna (A32) road. Recently resettlement was
completedby displaced people in this area during the civil war and a huge
amount water demand arises.

Although no ground water during the dry season but availability ground

RSC(N) has been made a proposal to have pipe born water supply
scheme for this area and it is vital important to satisfy water demand
resettled multi community those areas.

Present Details Due to the absence of a pipe borne water supply, majority of the people in
the Sannar, Eachalawakai walk to the common water sources protected/
unprotected to water. As the common water sources doesn’t have pumping
systems, people have to manually get water from the deep water wells.
Depending on the locations of the water sources most of the families have
to walk approx. 3 – 4 Km to fetch the water for drinking and cooking
purposes.
Hence some private suppliers also supply drinking water to that area.
Some Water bowser suppliers get high amount to deliver water per trip
specially in dry season. But most families are poor, unable to satisfy their
water demand and they get emotional effect in dry seasons.

Treatment Ground water will be used as raw water for the proposed water supply
scheme. Hence, it is proposed to use only Chlorination as the treatment
Process.
