Portable Grinder is a small drilling machine used for several function
including, grinding and cutting processes depending on the type of
disc fitted to the machine. Grinders can be powered by an electric
motor, petrol engine or compressed air. The motor drives a geared
head at a right-angle on which is mounted an abrasive disc or a
thinner cut-off disc, either of which can be replaced when worn. Angle
grinders typically have an adjustable guard and a side-handle for two-
handed operation. Certain angle grinders, depending on their speed
range, can be used as sanders, employing a sanding disc with a
backing pad or disc. The backing system is typically made of hard
plastic, phenolic resin, or medium-hard rubber depending on the
amount of flexibility desired. It may be used for removing excess
material from a piece. There are many different kinds of discs that are
used for various materials and tasks, such as cut-off discs, abrasive
grinding discs, grinding stones, sanding discs, wire brush wheels and
polishing pads. The angle grinder has large bearings to counter side
forces generated during cutting, unlike a power drill, where the force
is axial.

2. OFF/ON Switch – a switch to switch the motor ON and OFF
3. Switch lock – a button which can keep the switch in the ON
position
4. Electrical cord – with the plug, it is use to connect the drill to the
electrical supply
5. Cord strain reliever – it prevents the electrical cord to suffer from
strain during and after operation
6. Handle – it is held by the operator when operating for better
performance
7. Guard – a metallic covering use in trapping the chips flying from
the work piece
8. Grinding disc – a manufactured stone disc for cutting/grinding

9. Locking nut – a nut use to hold/lock the grinding disk firmly to
avoid accident
10. Spindle – used to attach the grinding disk to the rotor of the
motor
1. Wear safety glasses, or face shield at all times when using the
portable disc grinder.
2. Wear hearing protection when grinding operating the portable disc
grinder.
3. Position the grinder so that sparks and grit thrown of during
grinding will not hit the operator or others working in the area.
4. Make sure the material being ground is well secured.
5. Never grind with the portable disc grinder in an area which houses
flammable materials or combustible gases.
6. Replace the grinding disk when it becomes worn to half its original
diameter.
7. Wear long sleeve leather gloves when grinding with the portable disc
grinder to protect hands and forearms.
8. Hold the portable disk grinder with both hands when grinding.
9. Never lay the portable disc grinder down until the disk stopped
rotating.
10. Keep the electrical cord and extension cords out of the way of the
work when grinding.
11. When using the wire brush attachment on the portable disc
grinder, hold the grinder extra firm to prevent it from being thrown
about and cause an accident.
12. Caution others in the work area to wear safety glasses, hearing
protection and to watch out for flying sparks and grit.

1. Hydraulic hose – A high-pressure resistant hose where the
hydraulic oil travel from the hydraulic pump to hydraulic ram.
2. Hydraulic pump – It is considered to be the heart of tool where in it
houses the hydraulic oil.
3. Ram travel gauge – A visible guide in determining the distance
travelled by the hydraulic ram.
4. Hydraulic ram – it is the one that pushes the pipe being bended to
the desired angle.
5. Pipe support – It provides support to the pipe being bended.
6. Bender shoe – It catches the pipe being bended attached to the
hydraulic ram.
7. Bender frame – it houses the entire unit that provides strength and
support.

Procedures in using Hydraulic Knockout Set
1. Match the punch, die, draw stud, adapter (if needed), and spacer(s)
as required for the size hole to be punched.
2. After marking the hole location, drill a hole approximately 1⁄32" to
1⁄16" larger than the draw stud or adapter being used.
3. When using 3⁄4" through 3" punch and die, thread the end of the
3⁄4" draw stud with the shortest thread length into the ram until
snug.
When using the 1⁄2" punch and die, thread the larger 3⁄4" end of the
3⁄8" adapter draw stud directly into the ram until snug.
When using the 31⁄2" and 4" punch and die, thread the 11⁄8"
adapter over the 3⁄4" draw stud until snug. The threaded end of the
11⁄8" adapter should face away from the ram.
4. Determine spacer(s) needed (if any) and install.
5. Slide the die onto the draw stud with the open end of the die facing
away from the ram.
6. Place the draw stud through the hole you drilled in step 2. Then
thread the punch onto the draw stud (or adapter) with the cutting
face toward the material to be punched. Thread the punch onto the
draw stud until the punch, die and spacers are snug against the
material.
7. Complete the punching process by activating the hand pump.

6. To release the hydraulic pressure, pull the release trigger back
while pressing down on the handle. Note: To prevent the ram from
retracting completely, release the trigger. This speeds the crimping
process when a single connector requires several crimps.
7. For a cUL or UL classified crimp, complete the number of crimps
specified in the cUL/UL Table. Note: For brands not listed, consult
the connector manufacturer’s instructions to determine the
number of crimps and the acceptability of installation with a
dieless tool.
8. To remove the tool from a splice, pull the movable pin on the die
head and open the crimping head.

Maintaining
Electrical Hydraulic
and Power Tools
- Make sure your work area is neat and clean and free of any debris that
might get in your way or be ignited by hot tools, chips or sparks.
- Before you plug in any power tool, make sure the power switch is off.
- Always turn off and unplug the tool before you make any adjustments or
change accessories.
- Never use any accessory except those specifically supplied or
recommended by the manufacturer. They should be described in the
tool’s Instruction Manual.
- Never use power tools in wet or damp conditions.
- Never use a tool that is damaged or malfunctioning in any way
- Need an extension cord? Make sure it’s a heavy-duty cord and don’t use
indoor rated cords outside. If the tool has a three-pronged plug, make
sure you use a three-pronged extension cord plugged into a three
pronged outlet.
- Make sure cutters or blades are clean, sharp and securely in place.
Never use bent, broken, or warped blades or cutters.
- Never overreach when using a power tool. Stay firmly planted on both
feet.
- When using hand-held power tools, always keep a firm grip with both
hands. Losing control creates a hazardous situation. Do not use any tool
that is too heavy for you to easily control.
- Always use the right tool for the right job. No substitutions allowed!
- Always unplug, clean and store the tool in a safe, dry place when you
are finished using it.
Safety Symbols
Your power tool and its Owner’s Manual may contain "WARNING
ICONS" (a picture symbol intended to alert you to, and/or instruct you how
to avoid, a potentially hazardous condition). Understanding and heeding
these symbols will help you operate your tool better and safer.
