LESSON Teacher Mr. Herbert J. Magango Learning Area Science
PLAN Teaching Date March 4, 2019
Quarter Third
and Time 10:40-11:40 AM

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard The learners demonstrate understanding of uniformly accelerated motion, motion
in two-dimensions using projectile motion as example, impulse and momentum,
and conservation of linear momentum.
B. Performance Standards Propose ways to enhance sports
1. related to projectile motion.
C. Learning Competencies & 1. describe projectile motion
Code 2. investigate the relationship between the projection angle, the height, the
range and time travelled

B. Other Learning Resources
IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous lesson or Vertical or Horizontal Motion?
presenting the new lesson 1. an airplane on a runway preparing for takeoff
2. a stone dropped from a cliff
3. a race car on the road
4. falling waters of Tamaraw falls

Questions:
1. How do we solve for the displacement of an object moving horizontally with
uniformed acceleration?
2. How do we solve for the height of an object moving vertically with uniformed
acceleration? What is the acceleration of a falling object?

B. Establishing a purpose for the VIDEO PRESENTATION

lesson
C. Presenting examples/ instances of WHAT is PROJECTILE MOTION
the new lesson  Projectile motion refers to the 2-D motion of an object that is given an
initial velocity and projected into the air at an angle.
 The only force acting upon the object is gravity. It follows a parabolic
path determined by the effect of the initial velocity and gravitational
acceleration.
D. Discussing new concepts and POWERPOINT PRESENTATION
practicing new skills #1  Projectile Motion
E. Discussing new concepts and  Trajectory of a Projectile
practicing new skills #2  Calculation of Projectile Motion

F. Developing mastery (leads to EXPLAIN: Solve

Formative Assessment) GROUP ACTIVITY
G. Finding practical applications of  A projectile was fired with initial velocity 10 m/s horizontally from a cliff.
concepts and skills in daily living If the horizontal range of the projectile is 20 m, calculate the height d of
the cliff.
 A projectile was fired horizontally from a cliff 19.62 m above the ground.
If the horizontal range of the projectile is 20 m, calculate the initial
velocity 𝒗𝒊 of the projectile.

H. Making generalizations and PROJECTILE MOTION

abstractions about the lesson  Velocity is changing and the motion is accelerated
 The horizontal component of velocity ((𝑣𝑥 ) is constant
 Acceleration from the vertical component of velocity (𝑣𝑦 )
 Acceleration due to gravity is constant, and downward a = - g = - 9.81m/s2
 The horizontal and vertical motions are independent of each other
 Both motions share the same time (t)
 The horizontal velocity 𝑣𝑥 = 𝑣𝑖
 The horizontal distance ....𝑑𝑥 = 𝑣𝑥 𝑡
 The vertical velocity .... .... 𝑣𝑦 = −𝑔𝑡
1
 The vertical distance .... .... ℎ 𝑜𝑟 𝑑𝑦 = 𝑔𝑡 2

I. Evaluating learning Solve:
1. A person standing on a cliff throws a stone with a horizontal velocity of 15.0
m/s and the stone hits the ground 47.0 m from the base of the cliff. How high is
the cliff?
